Yes it does fit, only a few millimeters will remain between the Metal HDD panel from the cage and the metal shroud of the 980.

This is quite helpful thank you very much, can i ask your opinion and everyone else's here, i have an entry level GPU, its an Asus HD radeon 7770 2GD5 i play only at 1080p, higher resolutions are nice but i am fine with it.

Question is i want the most vale for performance i can get, now with maxwell here the upgrade will be worth it form me but id like to know how much of a difference there is between the 780ti and the 980 and if its worth the extras cash.

980 EVGA reference is 579.99 780ti Asus DCII is 489.99 (I can only buy retail) Fry's is closest to me

which should i get so i can have the most longer lifespan so i can game on Medium-Ultra settings for the years to come.

Also i know its hard to say but i will definitely get an oculus Rift once available, that's why i consider a 980 because it has this new support and technology called VR Direct, just as a point to consider the 980.

Advice is well appreciated guys, thanks

Any issue with the fans so far? I've read on forums these 970 version tend to have a mechanical malfunction, fans don't spin even over 60C.

Im in the sort of same situation here, ive got an asus HD Radeon 7770 2gd5 now. And i need a good upgrade badly, i can only buy retail right now and the 780ti came down to 489.99, all though a 980 seems the better card to get i don't know which way will frys be putting a price tag on the 980 and how soon are the Maxwell cards coming in stock. I can't think straight just by looking at a 780ti for that price, help guys what should i do?

Yes, wait you will know whether to hold out on the 780ti in few weeks, 18th or 19th September we should know, if they don't even mention it, i'd say **** it and buy the 780ti.

I just got into PC gaming a year ago and went AMD Asus HD7770-2GD5, its not enough to push 1080p to its limits, i need a new powerful GPU as soon as possible; i was all in for this baby Asus GTX780TI-DC2OC-3GD5 but maxwell rumors are holding me back, i don't want to waste my money and have a considerable price drop just 2 or 3 month down the road, and most important if the 880 is significantly faster/cheaper.

Advice from someone who has been buying Nvidia stuff on this matter would be quite helpful, thanks in advance.
