Also, the Republican Party has ALWAYS been pro-business, pro-Capitalist, pro-tariffs, etc. so how can you argue for a complete switch, let alone a switch at all?

Show me the sources then.

If the parties ideologies never switched than please explain to me why the Democrats (which are the modern liberal party) supported small government, states rights and peoples right to own slaves? Are those not conservative values? (not implying slaves, implying property) Peoples right to own property, states rights to govern how they please and small federal government?

If you can’t do some research into history and political science then theres no argument to be had.

Also those standpoints are not strictly Conservative either, they also have similarities to Classical Liberalism which is what this nation was founded on, and is also what the Republican Party used to uphold. However Conservatism and Classical Liberalism have key differences, and while is does vastly differ from the more modern social liberalism it is in no means strictly conservative values.

Its in the History books that The Democratic Party at the time of the civil war was Conservative, and The Republican Party at the same time was Liberal. Same parties as today but now its the other way around. Its in the history books. I even explained this to Tragik. They did eventually realign.

Conservatism is a really broad political spectrum and covers basically everything from the Center to the Far Right.

You probably should’ve phrased your question as “Is Republicanism inherently bad” if thats what you’re going for.

When you say Conservatism, you could be talking about anyone, even Democrats. You could be talking about anything from Economics to Social standpoints.

Actually its funny because Ill admit I have the parties mixed up, however they did gradually switch ideologies over time.

Both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party are from the same Party. The Democratic-Republican Party which split and became the Democrats and the Whigs and the short lived Free Soil Party in the early 19th Century. Eventually in 1854 the Whigs and the Free Soil Party became the Republican Party.

Now we know which side was what Party, however at the time of the Civil War the Democratic Party was Conservative, and the Republican Party was Liberal. Again eventually both Parties gradually swapped ideologies and in the 1930s the Democrats were the Big Government Social Liberal Party and the Republicans were the Small Government Conservative Party.

So yes my facts were mixed up because it is a but confusing and YES (cause I know someones gonna say it) the Republican Party DID abolish Slavery, as a Center to Left of Center platform party. They were far from Conservative at the time.

Also I got this all from the Wikipedia of both Parties, which each has sources in the References section.

Our Political Parties have never been consistent since the day the US was formed. There are plenty of times where parties have shifted ideologies over time. Times change and so do people. The Republican party of the 1860s is not the same party as the Modern Republican party, their ideals in no way align.

If my understanding if the topic is correct the Southern Democrat-Republicans split late in the 19th Century and eventually became the Modern Republican Party and the Old GOP/Republican Party eventually became the Modern Democratic Party. Both Modern Parties have nothing to do with The Civil War anyway. That time is long over and things were different back then.

Its more of the context of his statement. Its clear that its from a place of disrespect as its used as an insult, says that all Liberals are triggered.

Even if they are?

And that proves? I could say all Conservatives are triggered, whats the point? People are mad, and the point is? Is that bad that people disagree? Do people not have the right to disagree with something?

They were the party that abolished slavery,

During this time, the GOP (which is the party you were referring to) was actually left leaning classical liberalism before the party shift early in the 20th Century.

Comment Karma, also known as Karma for short, is the main currency of our people. After obtaining 1000 Karma, you will go forth in front of the Grand Karma Council for admissions to the Karma Store under the leadership of Supreme Chancellor Philip.

The alternative currency of our people is the Gorkbuck, administered by the Emperor himself, GorkTi200. While not offical here as Karma, its rarity makes it a hot commodity. It is also exchanged for wupiupi and Republic Credits (Usually Exchangeable in increments of 7 and 20,000 respectively).

Proposition 65 Warning:

Karma is known to the State of California to cause Cancer and other Birth Defects.

Im hoping the LGBTQ topic that was brought before SCOTUS goes well, however if it does not I hate to say it but I honestly wouldnt feel accepted as a person in this country anymore. I fear for the livelihoods of many Americans that are discriminated against for things such as their sexuality and gender identity. It saddens me that were going backwards and we could be further pushed back more. I should make a topic on this and see what other people think.

President Trump appointmented all CEOs and Billionaires to his cabinet, has fired half his staff, has destroyed whatever integrity this country had left and ruined diplomatic relations with plenty of our allies. He's not cleaning up any mess, in fact he's made a bigger mess.

My statement hold truth to it, as Gork has stated in topics on this forum many times with many sources to Trumps corruption and bigotry.

Sure the Democrats aren’t perfect either which is why people like Bernie are here to change the face if the party, but the Republicans are basically Trumps party now and have jumped off the deep end into the swamp.

I refuse to support a party that denies people basic human rights on the grounds of national origin, sexual orientation, religious background etc

Well the side that you support in my mind takes things to the extreme, tells flat out lies to suit their agenda, straight up lies, is hateful and intolerant to minorities, racist and bigoted, power hungry, grid locks congress on the basis of outdated or corrupt legislation, doesn't care about you and only the rich, manipulates the poor and exploits the poor and middle class to benefit the rich.

Your statement is so blindly one sided that I felt this was fitting to say.

There will eventually be a moment when you will need to haul something, like stuff from ikea, lots of luggage, etc and that’s when you will find sedans to be rather cumbersome.

A U-Haul Pickup Truck costs $20 for the day. And most sedans have no problem with lots of luggage, thats why they have a trunk

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Can police track a phone number?"

  • 2 points

Yes, as I know in the US, telecommunication companies are required to keep phone records for a certain period of time and with a warrant the records can be accessed and the number can also be found and traced. Unfortunately like other people have said this is a civil issue so they won’t do that.

Try contacting Kijiji support and see what they can do, you might be able to take the guy to small claims over the value you paid for it and then some. Good luck!

See my reply to Tragik, basically the same thing.

Maybe a suggestion would be if you forget your keycard that’s on them, perhaps everyone needs to be informed to make sure they have their keycards on them.

But since you have a keycard system it might actually be possible to add a button release to the door, I would contact the company that installed and services the system.

Yeah once these systems get old they tend to fail quite often or have issues. A system he’s looking for this wouldn’t really have many issues because the layout would be pretty barebones. Still expensive tho.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Need some info on door buzzers or whatever they're called"

I would imagine all that would be needed is an actuator connected to the lock that will actuate when signal is sent via a pressure switch.

Newer systems now are usually controlled by main panels that send signals to the actuators for the door latches, basically instead of the door itself being unlocked, the door is always locked but the latch on the frame can be released. When she pushes a button it sends a signal to the main panel which will send specific signals to the door latch which is also powered via 12 or 24v to unlock and for how long etc

The company I work for installs these.

Couple thousand dollars for material and labor, it’s not cheap. Plus what Tragik said this can defeat the purpose of having the card reader so you’d want a buzzer with a camera on it. It’s basically an intercom and access control system. If you want I can explain to you how it works and why it’s expensive to have installed.
