Comment reply on shipbreaker's Completed Build: Ultra silent/Smart Fan/No Case Fans Gaming Build

Hi can you comment on why you would think your D15S fits even though it exceeds the maximum CPU cooler height listed by Corsair, according to Noctua's official measurement? Corsair lists max CPU cooler height for the 350D at 160mm and Noctua lists the D15S height w/fan at 165mm. PCpartpicker also considers the pair incompatible, probably due to this.

If you can confirm it works, I'd like to go for this combination as well. Thanks.

Good job reusing an old case.

This is not an unheard of issue. If the supplementary CPU power socket resides along the edge of the mATX motherboard in a 350D case, the clip will conflict with the H100i GTX. I am a prospective buyer of a similar combination. I might still go ahead with the purchase, and try to fit the cooler with the fan screw for that one corner taken out. Some more pictures would definitely help though.

It's funny they partially led the charge in getting rid of drive bays and now this thing has no graceful place to sit.

That is not true at all. Averages don't tell the whole story. Minimum FPS is what you feel during a slowdown and there, AMD trails heavily in newer games, especially with cards with the power of the 980Ti. For example, this GTAV test at "only" 1080p maxed with a Titan X already shows big differences in minimum frames, and a 980Ti is for all intents and purposes, just as fast - http://www.gamersnexus.net/game-bench/1911-gta-v-cpu-benchmark-4790k-3570k-9590-more

Same thing with Witcher 3 - http://www.techspot.com/review/1006-the-witcher-3-benchmarks/page5.html

Where else does Fury X win below 4K, because I have yet to see one instance. It is firmly between the 980 and 980Ti at 1440p and below, only trading blows with the 980Ti at 4K, where neither are really delivering what I consider acceptable framerates yet...though technically "playable" now.

Thanks for this. Clears up a lot of fitment questions I had. You can still reinstall the HDD cage in the top position, right? Also, there is space for the rear fan to protrude more without hitting the H110i GT right? I am asking because I am looking to pair the 450D with a H110i GT/GTX with a new hybrid style video card - with positive pressure.

It's actually quite easy since the EVGA Hadron Air is smaller and has much bigger CPU cooler clearance and video card length space. The appeal of the TU-100 is the handle, which makes it suitable as carryon luggage or just generally more convenient if it will be transported often.

Because it's probably not literally -only- going to be used for gaming and 16GB of RAM can be utilized easily for ramcaches and freedom in general usage.
