That looks like your answer :)

SpiralCaseMods's Completed Build: Project Platinum Panther - $480 Build

hi_im_snowman 1 point 1 month ago

That price tag though... Unreal.

Seriously, I can't believe how far $500 can take you with a pragmatic mindset and some patience. Happy to see this featured, very cool!

Lielanthris's Completed Build: Future proofing my needs.

hi_im_snowman 2 points 1 month ago

I second this, the 2070 will reach the 60hz cap without breaking a sweat, making the monitor the real bottleneck in this setup.

Some recommendations:

  • 1080p 144hz+
  • 1440p 120-144hz (settings will vary strongly based on game)
  • 4k 60hz (probably at medium settings for most games)

managerman's Completed Build: TT Core P7 "Bucket List 2.0" Build - Carbon Fiber Tubes and Fittings Overload Corvette Tribute!

hi_im_snowman 3 points 1 month ago

Oh come on.

How many hours did this take to build? This is complete insanity. I'm monstrously jealous. You've built something stupendous. Bravo, sir... Bravo.

+1 (lmao, ofc +1).

voltronad's Completed Build: Ultimate Intel Gaming Rig (my dream machine, 2019)

hi_im_snowman 2 points 1 month ago

I love it, it's fantastic, but the godlike motherboard is just on that side of absolutely insane for this build. Why on earth buy a $750 mobo for such a simple build?

ryansmission's Completed Build: "The Classic" - A 1953 Philco Bakelite Radio to HTPC Conversion

hi_im_snowman 1 point 2 months ago

Wow, really, this is gorgeous. Man, some people just have the coolest ideas. This looks fantastic, what a great piece.

Love it, definitely memorable!

+1 !

daparkvid's Completed Build: Wii Little PC

An epic tiny build, I see! This is wonderful work, I wish these could be purchased, it would be perfect as a HTPC!

Trizzn's Completed Build: Twitch.tv/Trizzn 2019 Stream Setup "Baller on a Budget"

hi_im_snowman 1 point 3 months ago

I'm genuinely curious, this build doesn't hold up well when streaming? I don't stream myself so I don't know tbh.

Any idea why, specifically?

Rubberdauck's Completed Build: Mineral Oil Cooled Threadripper System

hi_im_snowman 1 point 3 months ago

What. The. Heck.

This is pure madness. The dedication alone should be applauded. Wow. What an epic undertaking.

BertTabak's Completed Build: The Monolith

hi_im_snowman 1 point 4 months ago

Just about what I was trying to say. Not at all a slap at OP's build or worse still, his/her photography skills, those are STELLAR, but moreso just an observation about the fact that it takes just moderate effort to build a pc like the one displayed.

BertTabak's Completed Build: The Monolith

hi_im_snowman 1 point 4 months ago

:) Glad I managed to explain my thoughts accurately

BertTabak's Completed Build: The Monolith

hi_im_snowman 1 point 4 months ago

on-budget: meaning, to respect one's budget. Has nothing to do with price.

When a project manager accomplishes a project "on-budget", it means that he respected the allowed budget, It does not mean that he bought cheap parts. Who cares if that desk is 900$ or 90,000$? That's not at all my point.

RetnuhTnelisV's Completed Build: Sisyphus (Late 2018)

hi_im_snowman 2 points 5 months ago

So you went backwards with your latest GPUs? 1080ti to 1080? Why, if I may ask?

jdubs860's Completed Build: RGB HELL

hi_im_snowman 1 point 5 months ago

Wait, wait, wait.... So you bought a $600+ case and you didn't even know its dimensions before receiving it?

We're cut from different cloths, lol!

It looks great but I'll second others in the comments - additional pics would be awesome.

mack_au's Completed Build: U-P-G-R-A-Y-E-D-D

Nein, nein. It's just coincidence.

SavantPCs's Completed Build: Insane NZXT H200i Mini-ITX Build - Wohlwend Transport

hi_im_snowman 1 point 6 months ago

I absolutely hate the color scheme but I understand that it's matching a brand so that's cool - opinion withheld. The design itself is really surprising and interesting and those bends are fantastic. Overall it's a really cool piece of art and it's also pretty powerful too! Great work!

PCPartPicker Blog Post "Charity:Water Completion Report #9"

hi_im_snowman 1 point 6 months ago

This is probably the number 1 reason I'd tolerate actual ads on this site. I love that you guys value charitable work. I would be happy to contribute a few dollars if you guys ever decide to do a fundraiser for this. Kudos on the great work!

HiResJunky's Completed Build: Link Tube Madness, a no bends Lian Li PC-011 Dynamic build

hi_im_snowman 1 point 9 months ago

Okay, that makes a lot more sense. Here I was thinking "holy crap, does OP know how valuable and rare this thing is?" haha

Btw, gorgeous build, I can almost feel the care and dedication that went into this wonderful piece of art. +1

HiResJunky's Completed Build: Link Tube Madness, a no bends Lian Li PC-011 Dynamic build

hi_im_snowman 1 point 9 months ago

Wait, wait, wait, wait...

Are you seriously getting 5Ghz on the 8700k with only 1.072v? Am I misreading this last photo? Was this a SpeedStep reading on your cpu and the actual is 1.3xxv or 1.4xxv or is this chip actually godly?

Logarythym's Completed Build: HP Pavilion is Getting Loopy

hi_im_snowman 1 point 9 months ago

This is priceless lol! The joke is solid and the effort makes it so much better. Talk about a sleeper build!

Good job!

Zwitterkill158's Completed Build: AMD build ! With gtx 1080 SC

hi_im_snowman 1 point 9 months ago

Yea umm, not to pile onto the cable management comments but ugh, yea... it's hard to look past those cables.

Imagine walking into a hotel room and everything is pristine except for the bed. The bed is dirty and unmade, pillows on the floor.

Would you expect anyone to consider this a clean and finished room, ready to be rented out?

Clean your cables, soldier! Show it some love. :)

the_naked_nerd's Completed Build: custom open loop

hi_im_snowman 2 points 9 months ago

Good lord this is insane. Really not my cuppa tea but I have to hand it to you, you nailed the theme and the execution. EXCELLENT work! This is a wonderful talking piece. Great job op!!

TheAgnda's Completed Build: Limitless

hi_im_snowman 21 points 9 months ago

It's amazing to me that one can purchase all of this for only about 20k. Oh how the world of tech has evolved, it's just absolutely incredible. I mean hell, I work from home and all I need to do my job well is a ~$5,500 setup. A friend of mine is a farmer and he started his business with a 640k loan/partial subsidy from the government. Isn't it incredible how the world has changed?

Apologies, I digress.

I think the water-cooling solution you've come up with is damn clever and I love that you took it to heart and built it into the walls. That deserves massive kudos. It's unique, gutsy and I'm sure, really effective. I really enjoy the simplicity of your main build, it fits-in very well with the complete setup, which of course is totally monstrous.

+1 mate, you had me at the custom "in-wall" loop!

john82wa's Completed Build: 570X Custom Water Loop

hi_im_snowman 2 points 9 months ago

Lovely labor of love. Wonderful work on the bends, that's quite impressive! +1

BertTabak's Completed Build: The Monolith

hi_im_snowman 0 points 10 months ago

Please don't take this personally, but I find that the build is generic and aside from the polished cable management, not generally worthy of a feature. Does it look good? Sure, but I mean black, silent and on-budget are the only conditions one must follow to create this. There's nothing unique, particularly difficult, extra, custom or personalized about it. It's another all-black, albeit pristine, build showcased with high quality photographs.

That being said, I'm not a Barbarian and can certainly appreciate a good feedback sandwhich. You're obviously a talented photographer, have a great eye for design and are very meticulous about aesthetics. There's a good applause deserved here for the patience it took to assemble this build and its setup as cleanly as you have. That complete setup is pretty sexy, that's for sure.

It gets my +1, gj!

Jaxs23's Completed Build: First Build and Setup

hi_im_snowman 2 points 10 months ago

You could super-glue thin but wide black rubber O-Rings to cover those holes. It would look a heck of a lot better for dirt cheap. Also, there exists plastic hole covers you can buy online or in small tech shops. Just a thought :)

Cool build & setup, gj!

marianoazevedo's Completed Build: Just a Non-RGB Upgrade: strongest CPU and smaller case (non-RGB)

hi_im_snowman 2 points 10 months ago

The build is fantastic, but the setup is brilliant.

+1 mate, wonderful!

Wonderful execution there mate, looks incredible.

+1 enjoy it :)

lionels's Completed Build: Neat box with power in it.

hi_im_snowman 1 point 10 months ago

Can't tell for sure but from looking at the first pic it looks like your video card back-plate still has the protective plastic film on it. You definitely want to peel that off, it's not at all meant to stay there.

Other than that this is a very nice, small and effective build. Super clean cable management as well, kudos on that! Enjoy it! :)

chaoticmike's Completed Build: The Beast

hi_im_snowman 2 points 10 months ago

You should be really proud of your successes, this is a great build! Enjoy it :)

bglorioso7's Completed Build: My current gaming pc

hi_im_snowman 3 points 10 months ago

Yea that 5.3 is just madness. And imagine that on a 24/7 overclock. Oh the drools...!

bglorioso7's Completed Build: My current gaming pc

hi_im_snowman 9 points 10 months ago

Other than bragging rights - which you now certainly have - the return on the 1950X is exactly backwards in a gaming rig. More money for less performance - way more, for way less.

Games love ultra-fast single-core performance. So a binned 8700k @ 5.2ghz from Silicon Lottery for $629 would absolutely murder the 1950X in gaming performance annnnnnd you'd be left with 300$ extra for custom cables or the start of a water loop or just your savings account :)

Kinda like bringing a dump truck to a drag race. Big, powerful, crazy expensive and can handle heavy loads but slow as molasses on the quarter-mile.

All in all though, you've done a good job, it looks fantastic! +1

NicDuval's Completed Build: My first ''GAMING'' PC for Wow BFA.

hi_im_snowman 2 points 10 months ago

Bravo, beau travail! :)

Bizkit1021's Completed Build: FIRST GAMING RGB RIG

hi_im_snowman 1 point 10 months ago

Love the build but I would have personally made a small change: the 8700k is an elite CPU, the 1070ti is not an elite GPU. Games benefit far more from a top tier GPU than a top tier CPU. So yea, would have saved a few dollars to invest in a better video card instead, especially given that it's a gaming rig.

Love the vertical mount though, gj :) +1

iGreatScott's Completed Build: First Build Done!! Can't wait to build more!!!!!

hi_im_snowman 1 point 11 months ago

custom cables would go a long way in this build :)

Nice stuff!

Jakajako95's Completed Build: PROJECT ZEUS
