The wiring confuses me. There is a 4-pin connector, which I’m putting into the Sys Fan port on the motherboard. But that wire also has a molex thing hanging off of it. I’ve been putting the front fan’s molex plug into that adapter. But both front and back wires each also have what look like receptive (female) 3-prong holes. Wish I could add an image for illustration.

Hey! Thanks for the tips. I now have monitor working thanks to a new hdmi cable. However, the fans that came with my case still are not working. Seem to have everything working but those. Some have suggested changing the little round battery near the gpu, but is that really a possibility?

I am pretty much a beginner with building, and am still learning about the parts. Forgive my questions if they're very basic. I should preface this by saying my son mainly wants this for gaming (e.g., Fortnite, Minecraft, whatever craze comes next).

Two questions:

1) I noticed the Ryzen 5 2600 or 3600 is used a lot in the build guides rather than 5 2600x. What would be the main reason/benefit for choosing "regular" over "x" types? Don't both have cooling fans? Do I gain much if I switch out the 2600x for the 2600?

2) I've been advised that building w/ a standard-sized motherboard is easier than a micro-sized. I'm moderately handy w/ DIY work at home (changing out switches & outlets, etc.)--will I have trouble w/ a micro motherboard?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

My son and I are planning to use this for our first-ever attempt at building a computer.

Question though: when I attempt to edit this build and then add an optical drive, none are listed. Does this mean we cannot fit one?
