What about switching it up with a xeon E3?
Awesome thanks man, I haven't read much about that CPU, will it be able to cope with things like photoshop?
the link is blank dude
I think I mentioned this last time we spoke but you should go for a sapphire R9 290 tri-X. Also, Windows 8 is dead. I'd go for 7 unless you need 8 to run something specific
that one. comes with 2 fans too
Switch the 270X for a 290. Also, I've seen some reviews complaining of airflow issues in that case.
They are also way above budget! Thanks though!
That is the most insane thing I have ever seen
Nice. Well good luck to ya!
What those guys said
Aw nice how much? I'm buying next month and it's my plan to get one too. Guess I'll be paying full price :P
From what I've read the Sapphire R9290 TriX keeps temps at about 50-60 C under load. But if it is running hot you could Always mount your PSU with the fan facing inwards which would suck a lot of the hot air out from beneath the GPU.
That may lower the life of your PSU but not by any significant amount. Also, I'd rather replace my PSU than graphics or CPU!
No probs, I'm in pretty much the same position as you. Been saving for ages for my first rig and it's almost a reality hehe.
Is this mainly for gaming? Will you be doing any editing or graphics work?
A dude I went to school with recommended a corsair water cooler too. Do you think the cooler master will be okay for now? I was thinking I could upgrade to a water cooler if I decided to OC
Also, That's when I'll reach my target budget. hehe
I'll be using this for gaming and editing mate. I can barely contain myself at the prospect of playing games like DayZ and Rust, not to mention Minecraft in large lobbies (only have 360 at the moment). Also looking at the likes of WoW as it's all new to me.
As for editing, I'll be using adobe CC as that's what I use in college :)
I think the R290X only gets you an extra frame or 2 per second over the R9 290. If you switched those that would bring you closer to your budget
Awesome hows it going so far?
cheers man, I was thinking that myself. It's mostly gaming i'll be doing with a little editing.
It's not really a big difference in price actually, maybe a tenner from what i've seen. I dunno!
thanks man, there's just so much that it's hard to keep track at times. Appreciate the help!
also, i had a look at 1600 corsair vengeance and it was pretty much the same price. might even have been more expensive!
Thanks a lot for the help. I plan on over clocking, do you still think an air cooler would be okay?
ok cheers. still learning what all these crazy codes mean.
any recommendations on the cooler? i could maybe spend an extra 20 quid on it
Yeah I've heard of people hitting crazy levels over clocking. Here's a build I've been messing about with, I'm mostly torn about the GPU. I've heard horror stories about the Powercolor R9 290, even with the bios updates. But I just don't know.
Yes, so maybe it's worth going for an FX8350 or an OC i5 in the meantime with the intention of upgrading to something like the X99? Although I guess the X99 merits a RAM and motherboard upgrade for DDR4
Yes but would you be able to stream a game like dayZ on one system using an FX8350?
I'm thinking that if there is a whole new chipset coming out this year, the 8350 would be a better short term investment too…yeah?
Ok I think I understand. So would the 8350 have any limitations in regards to games you could play and stream simultaneously?
hey man, why would the 8350 be better? i thought the i7 was faster
hey dude, i'm a noob, why would the 8350 be better than the i7? i thought the i7 was better
Haha yeah! why? Is it renowned?
cheers man, do you know if this case will be big enough? I know the site has compatibility checks but i have the fear
checked reviews on that grahpics card man, they weren't very complimentary!
ok, i know what it means, no i won't be rendering much at all haha
i'd like to avoid over clocking. sorry I'm not sure what you mean then
like video streaming? yeah i might be doing that, if that's what that means.
i like this case
no nothing serious. just basic effects like titles and stuff. Is that what you mean by rendering? Seriously, not in the know here haha
thanks for the help man, i don't really know what to look for in a graphics card or a case
thats right man like 1520 dollars
Would you be able to recommend a build? Yeah I'd be looking for a dedicated graphics card. Wanna be able to play games like Dayz and Destiny. And like I said video editing
Sound like the Xeon wins on all floors. cheers!
but what about performance? is there ea big difference?
in the long run would you go for the e3 over the i7? if you had the money for either
I'm looking for the same things from my build with some video editing too but my budget is 1000 pounds. could you help?
ps. I need an OS - windows
I have an extra hundred quid, would it be worth going for the i7 instead?
