That would've just added to the cost. The cooler would have been more expensive and I'd have to get even more fans, hence my choice.
The photos are terrible so they can't be seen but they're fairly bright and the higher the rpm, the more they glow. That being said, they're not too strong so they don't exactly light up the inside.
Somewhere down the line that PSU's gonna go.
Considering the color scheme, you should have called it MegaMan! +1
Case missing from item parts list. Nice lookin' build! I'm usually super concerned with thermals so I always suggest adding an after market cooler, like a Cooler Master Hyper EVO (inexpensive, great price/performance ratio) and since you chose an unlocked cpu, I figure you might wanna overclock.
HERE, TAKE THIS LAMP.
I CAN'T HEAR YOU, SPEAK UP
Hell yeah the video's up! What a monster.
Thanks. Nearly 3am but I really wanna watch it!!
Video removed? Any idea when it will be back? Super interesting build, would love to see it.
might mean the temps are low enough that the fan doesn't turn on? the AI tweaker isn't the best thing in the world too so it could be that as well, in which case you'd need to troubleshoot by connecting said fan to different places and see if and how it runs.
thanks for the info, keep me updated if there's any new development you'd like to share!
How's that mobo doing? any problems or small incidents you're noticed?
Totally lost it when I saw the four ssd's. +1, gg wp.
... that's actually just fine xD make sure you change the description, people are going nuts over the voltage!
Dat guetto mount. +1 for MacGyvering the hell outta this build
Definitely go with a better CPU cooler as you thought. If you're not gonna do a custom water loop, stick with a solid, high performance air cooler like a Noctua or an affordable Cooler Master.
It's a great lookin' build but for the love of money and sanity, turn down the voltage on that OC. That feels VERY dangerous.
Got one in red and black since I only needed one. Super cool.
+1 for cheap yet sturdy ikea desk. also the build. but mostly desk.
Awesome to see this happen. Glad to be part of this great community and to see these incredible iniciatives!
my love for you will never cease, staff-sama <3
Yeah I figured, just thought I'd leave a message for when they get back.
Can any staff member out there please just tell me what the status on this request is? Can it be done? If so, how soon? sorry if it's a bother :/
Good to know! xD
11/10 +1 you forgot your towel :P
not exclusively, there will be socketed variants, namely 1150 and 2011-3
+1 for happy viking. also a good build, but mostly for the happy viking.
It's past 4:30 in the morning and my brain couldn't rest without me finding the specific post in a 100+ page thread about the specific cancelation of the 780ti 6gig model. Again, you could have looked it up.
Yeah, you're welcome. Just gimmie the Strix and we're even.
From what I've read, there was plans for a 780ti 6gb but ultimately they didn't go through with it as it would make a titan black redundant in the gaming market. there is, however, a regular 780 with 6gb by EVGA. My guess is that nvidia put a stop to these 780ti versions so they can continue milking the titan name for everything it has. Don't take my word for it, you can easily verify this by heading over to the EVGA forums or overclock.net forums.
That being said, I'm kicking myself in the face because a world without a 780ti with 6 gigs is not a world worth living in.
+1 for Howl's Moving Castle and to a lesser extent, an awesome build! xD
probably an old hdd from another pc I think.
I'm aware this build has been around for a while but 11/10 for GITS.
Solid build for the budget. Room for upgradeability is always nice to see, if properly managed and cared for, this can last you 5 or 7 years surely, given some upgrades every now and then. Gratz!
The point was that if this was a 780ti edition, it would simply drive down titan sales which are already not the greatest. Personally I don't think from a gaming standpoint there's any need for almost anything over a 780ti. Better looking games does not mean better games but that's a whole different argument.
happy to help. make sure you keep updating the saved build so others chip in with some advice as well. Make sure to take some photos when you build this beauty xD
i see. Well, if you wanna make it cheaper, consider getting an i5 instead of i7 (you can probably even get a devil's canyon i5) and cheaper RAM. Also, the cpu cooler could be switched for a cooler master 212 evo which is quite good at less than half that price I believe.
11/10 would follow into battle. +1
Neat build, great price, clean finish. +1
With the exception of the RAM. That setup is bugging me e_e
Is the Ranger cheaper or more expensive than the Hero where you live? Looking at the price it seems steep.
Given the two monitor choice, this is a pretty solid build!
because of the price range most likely. with the recent release of the titan Z, if they had done this overhaul with a 780ti, nobody would have gotten a titan z. This way they keep selling 780's while maintaining the price bracket for 780ti's and titan z, so as to not overstep any bracket.
Yes, I even got the link for you and personally selected the sexy black version. I know, I love you too. Enjoy xD
If you can't have it on top of your desk and the only available space in near the floor, get a small platform, like those cheap Ikea coffee tables (usually like 10 bucks) and put it on that. Kind of a hindrance but it'll help with the life expectancy of your components and better your ventilation.
^ best piece of advice ever. Never rest a tower on the floor without any clearance (or low clearance), especially on any kind of carpet, rug and what have you. It will only clog up your lower intakes and eventually hurt your components.
Yay! I'm really keen on getting it. Tbh, I think it's quite affordable for the quality it boasts. Thanks for the info, now I'm really gonna get it!
sorry, totally didn't see it. my bad.
Even if I don't exactly agree with price/performance ratio on this, it is amazing. +1 for black/red scheme, teh sex.
I can see this becoming a beast in 12 months time. A bigger case with better airflow, maybe some aftermarket cpu watercooler for chill temps and a couple of hidden noctua fans. Maybe another stick of RAM for dual channel and an SSD. 350$ more and you have a monster. Also, that 1000w psu was a gift?! You lucky *******!
Personal thoughts: 4 sticks of 1866 16 Gb RAM at that price seems a little odd, since you could have gotten 16Gb 2400 RAM for the same price. Even just 8gigs would have sufficed with that GPU. Also the insane amounts of storage and 2 optical drives feel kind of weird but I'm sure they have an intended purpose. Maybe you could have saved on those 2 areas (storage and optical drives) to get an even better GPU. Even the CPU is a bit off.
Regardless, this is a great build, surprisingly more so given the final cost. I'm betting it performs great but I feel like it could have been so much more, for the same amount.
Curious about the VX238H. How is it, specwise and performancewise?
