Looks fine, but I would definetly reccommend getting a spending a bit more on a 144hz monitor.

Do yourself a favor and get a R5 1600 instead and while admitedly worse in single threaded performance it is much cheaper, newer, on a socket that is planned to be used for up to 4 years, and has an extra two cores which will be a godsend when doing editing and streaming.

Nothing in this build makes sense. A 700w psu? Why? And why do you think a 4 core 4 thread I5 with 8Gb ram will beat a 6 core 12 thread R5 with 16gb?

Will the 520w psu leave much room for expansion? Also, I plan on overclocking, will the stock thermal compound be sufficient for that?

Edit: By rendering I mean blender and SFM.

I need the extra two cores for blender. I chose the rosewill because it was semi modular.

Why did you go with a 5820k? The 6800k is cheaper, slightly faster, and newer, and the 1600x is launching in 8 days and is much cheaper for similar performance.

Wait for ryzen 5. You either get a better deal on this cpu or a similar one on the ryzen platform for cheaper.

I don't see the point of some of the changes you made. Why did you change the case, keyboard and psu?

Comment reply on Forum Topic "I need help"

Yes, the 1700. All ryzen 7 cpus are the same, with the main difference being in clockspeed.

Heavy rendering and moderatly heavy gaming.

Get the 1700 and overclock it, then use the extra to either get more ram or a 1080 ti.

Thanks for pointing that out, will take that into consideration for the final build.

If I very rarely did rendering, then maybe your argument would be valid, but the main problem is this: I will be rendering very often and would rather has a cpu that has excellent performance in gaming and excellent performance in rendering rather than a cpu that has unbeatable performance in gaming but completely tanks in rendering. 8 gb ram is not nearly enough to get by in rendering either. As for the 600$, I could easily build something around the 1600/1600x that beats the 6600 handily for about 100$ extra, and I only said the cheaper the better because I have seen some people who are more skilled at me at building pcs cheapen builds significantly by choosing parts more wisely. You're build was sufficient for the task you had in mind, but that was not the task I had in mind.

I made some changes to the build, shown here:https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Z3c6xY I upgraded the psu because I plan on ocing. Anything else I should know?

Somehow you cheapened my build by 1500$ while barely lowering performance. Thanks. EDIT: would it be worth it to replace the 1070 with a 1080 ti? EDIT: also, would getting an extra 32gb ram be worth it for blender?

Idk about overclocking on b350 because I dont have it, but think of it as z270 equivalent. Overclocking is boosting the clock speed of your cpu, and lower grade chipsets do not support it. Quick side note are you planning on any content creation? If so, the 1600 would be your best bet, and if your just gaming you should get the 1400x.

Id reccomend a ryzen 5 1400x or 1600 and a b350 mobo, as they have overclocking enabled.

Get a normal ssd rather than m.2, as they have better prices, and consider getting a large hard drive for less accessed files, as 128 gb is pretty small.

The 1800x is about the same as a 7700k in single and quad core performance(source: http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-Ryzen-7-1800X-vs-Intel-Core-i7-7700K/3916vs3647 ), but it's main use is for content creators.
