Oh hey Twest, completed my build awhile ago here: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/4mYrxr

I think until I replace the GPU, and get your studio quality photo angles, it won't be as drool worthy as yours haha. Thanks for the ideas though, I had the same reasoning you did with the PSU. Cheers.

Looking at where he got them (cablemods), the same place I got mines, his probably came included with the custom cables he bought.

You can also find some here: https://modmymods.com/darkside-24-pin-atx-cable-wire-management-holder-clear-ds-0512.html

Thanks, I tried to get a good color balance. Yes, the Asus has been great. For 1151 Skylake processors, this is a pretty popular board and is good for overclocking if you plan on doing that. It has thunderbolt and usb 3.1 type c which you can utilize now and for the coming years, and a bunch of USB ports, sound inputs, optical inputs etc on the back I/O. So totally pleased @ this price point.

A lot of times, same-socket boards are pretty similar and comes down to aesthetics and how it looks for your build. cpu and gpu I would put more funds towards :) gl.

What's up man! Aww hecks yea, I'm liking the super bright red and black backdrop on this. The Orc figure you have in the middle is inspiring. I will probably do the same and find some figure to put into my case (One that matches my theme). Might as well put a white orchid in mines :)

Lemme know what you think, thx!

Thank you. Yea, I will get a 1070 or other new gpus when it's available! Hopefully not the reference model gpu, and something with RGB or white LEDs actually. We'll see :)

And yea, looking back, might've just gone for the 6700k but it's already in my system and don't want to hassle with the liquid cooler remover and spending extra $. But if I decide to transfer this cpu into a build for my brother, yea I'll go for the 6700k :)

What's a woofington precious?

Yea, maybe you're right, the unlocked might have been the version to go for, but I think I'll be fine with the 6700 for the foreseeable future. Gonna put the extra funds for a beast gpu (1070 or 480x). Maybe when intel releases some budget ($300 ish) unlocked processors a couple years from now, I'll go for one of those and be OC master race, thanks :D

Hahaha yeah huh. Nice, I would actually go for an 480x, but it has red trim.. xD soo... maybe a partner version with a different color scheme. But probably stickin' with the 1070 :D

Does plasti-coating the red sata work?

Ahh makes sense, thanks for the info. Helps a lot, because I would use the bluray quite a bit. Get ready to see a Ruby's cousin, Dirty Diamond (Name pending lol) coming soon :)

You know what would be cool too? Bright white or RGB LED strips inside the case. There are a bunch of cheap options out there under $20 that really make the internals pop!

Cool build man. I am going for a similar white/black hints of blue build which I have to post soon (If it weren't for ordering the wrong motherboard, waiting a week to arrive, another week to send back, and another week for the right one to get in haha).

I painted the 2.5/3.5 covers, but I should probably go ahead and spray paint the pci-e grates too. Good idea. I don't think I'm bold enough to paint the front mesh panel though ha, but it looks nice.

I do like the cpu fan cooler and def works with this build, but decided to go with a liquid cooler, mostly for aesthetics really and to extend cpu lifespan.

Dang, you went all out and painted the psu/ssd as well ha, cool. I'll prob just paint my pny ssd's red line to white lol. Overall, looks good, waiting on the gtx 1070 as well which is smart and settled on a 650w.

Also, should I be plasti-dipping instead of spray painting? Much of a difference? Lemme know, thanks.

Hey Twest, great build, loving the color scheme. Just a question. Does your build have enough clearance for a 5.25 optical drive ? I can't tell by the picture because I might go a similar route w/ an optical drive.

Looks like the cpu cooler might be the limiting factor?
