Hmm, maybe switch the gpu to the lower slot so you can actually see the backplate. No performance loss here. Or water cool the cpu, what ever floats ur boat

Yeah absolutely! Was thinking to use the same motherboard and add 2 reference GTX 980 ti's for sli. I think the ref cards look great with this mobo. Also maybe adding some avexir blue-white led ram, or corsair dominator ram.
