I've been planning to get an 1070 for my second gaming rig after a 970, but reading so positive reviews about the 1060 6gb, I'm starting to think that I could save some money going for this instead. Have you ever tried to push it?
Heat/noise wise, how'd you rate it?
Thanks!
Pretty nice setup! +1 from me.
I'd like to ask few things:
Opinion about the ssd? I wanna buy the same. I've had a 120gb 840 evo earlier and it was fast and reliable. Even though there are cheaper brands, I'm thinking about sticking to samsung for the reliability.
Another thing, the RAM. Have you had any issues with it whatsoever? It seems to be on good price right now. I need 16gb ddr4 ram for gaming.
And for last, I've had a WD caviar blue in my previous pc, 1TB. It was quiet and rather speedy. Never had issues with it. How do you think the red series compare to that?
Thank you for your answers in advance! Take care and game on!
Gotcha. Thanks for the thorough explanation! It seems like a no brained for people on tight budget who wants Intel cpu. I always keep parts being future proof in mind, also reliability and performance during long gaming sessions etc, and I think on the long run the 6600k or the 6500 are both better pick.
Even though they don't have hyper threading, whereas the $109 i3 has.
Curious.
Its a theoretical build. Thanks God pcpp allows us to do such things!
Also, I'm an Intel/nvidia fan, but I doubt that the 6100 would beat "any current amd CPU"
Its a silly thing to say.
I see. Thought the 6100 has hyper threading while the 6600k doesn't. Does that help in gaming? Or multitasking?
I'm lost at Vulkan. Never heard of that.
Turbo boost? What? I thought its intel CPU feature.
I do like to multitask, like browsing, listening to music, chatting while gaming. I'd never run virus scan while playing, though.
I'm wondering if the newer, more demanding games benefit from more cores, how comes that the new i3 processor is so popular in budget gaming rigs with its two cores?
Seems fairly solid to me. I wouldn't plan on overclocking this one (perhaps slightly)
In my actual build there'll be a 6600k, tho. Sticking to the hyper evo 212 which served me well and quietly in my previous build.
I've been looking at the cryorig M9 though, that has higher rpm if needed and smaller, plus slightly cheaper. Some people say its a good cooler.
Do you care to explain how does BF1 or any other game benefit from more cores?
What fps would you predict having this setup on 1080p with medium/high settings?
I'm willing to lower graphics to make e game run smoother. I'm more of a competitive-enthusiast player than someone who's into fancy graphic effects.
I'm actually planning my second Intel/nvidia build.
Just wondering if I would want to save money and settle for mediocre performance with a machine that I could use later on as a barbecue, what should I be looking at.
+1 for the excellent CPU choice and oc (What settings do you play at?)
+1 for the customization and colours
+1 for using a Bitfenix case! (I'm a former Bitfenix Shinobi German Edition owner myself)
That's +3 pts from me!
Yeah. Though, once you had an ssd in a previous machine, you'd never build one without it, agree?
I gotta do my research on the 1060 and 1070. Also I see that new rams are ddr4, I assume it worth getting those, even if the ddr3 memories price is dropping down, or am I wrong?
Why not save and go with an 1070? It comes with 6 or 8 gig memory. I dont care much about the energy consumption, but the performance! I'd also greatly prefer one good card over two mediocre in sli
Thanks for your comment and part list! Especially that you kept it in respect that I'd prefer nvidia vid card. I'm wondering, is the 1060 the upgrade of the 960? How does it perform compared to the 4GB MSI GTX 970 twin frozr?
Also, would this i3 processor noticeable downgrade after the 4670k?
Its newer I guess, but that's quad core while this one is dual core.
