Wow that is neat. Thumbs up and congrats on the featured spot.

Btw do you have some sort of adapter to hide hooking the monitor, or projector up to the GPU inside the case?

Anyway, thumbs up.

Several free to use in trial mode benchmarks tools are available for download. If your system is mostly for gaming, lean towards the "game play benchmarks" available that you plan on playing. If you own the games already, simply download HWmonitor and turn on your GPU tool or in game FPS display. This will let you know how your system is performing live.

Unfortunately this was from over 5 years ago, and it required a thermal imaging camera to go with the software they used. Not much happened after the original post as I recall. Sorry.

Awesome retroactive build post.

Congrats on the featured spot.

It's amazing how far tech has come. Very cool "redneckery" there shoving a PC in the dash in...1990 something?

Comment reply on woncom's Completed Build: 7.2Ghz my expensive successful OC PC

Thanks for the reply. I really thought you had to be pulling my leg about 7.2 Ghz. Even at one core that core would get smoking hot under any load. If you do get it to work stably be sure to add a picture of CPU-Z.

Building the PCs is an absolute blast. Keep at it. Seriously look into chilled fluid or colder. You may have the best 8086k ever built.

I'm calling BS. I can post a BIOS shot of my 3570k, 4770k, or 4970k with crazy high settings too. Btw your test results show much lower settings. I'm surprised you got it to boot at 7.2 without cooking the CPU. Not that it's impossible with extreme subzero cooling. See 7.24 here

And 7.314 here

Notice the CPU-Z picture. Now read the core voltage set at 1.952. Even at 6ghz the core voltage has to be cranked up way over your setting.

If your wanting to try stable extreme overclocks, get into liquid nitrogen cooling.

Oh I have no idea who is downvoting. Didn't mean to accuse you there, fella. I figured it was someone who was in disagreement. I've seen it before and had no idea who was doing it those times either. The admins can tell but that's not me or I would still be another to vote. I cannot up, or down vote anymore. I'm glad it still exists. Wish I could still vote.

PERMANENTLY BANNED FROM VOTING

That's me

Edit Maybe it's the fella who had their comment deleted by the admins downvoting l :)

You should have a list of values drop down where the XMP is in the bios. Select the 3200mhz. It would freak me out if it stopped at 3000. That motherboard handles a lot higher frequency.

Welcome to the home built PC Master race! Thumbs up on your build.

In regards to your ram speed. In your BIOS, did you set your ram to use the XMP profile 1? This should select the advertised frequency and timings for you.

Btw I cannot upvote your build. I lost that privilege a little while ago. :)

Yep stock speed of the DDR4 3200 RAM is 2133. You have to enable the XMP profile in the BIOS to get 3200. Nice to have presets to enjoy your higher ram speed.
