After talking to the my friend that works IT at my work and finding out how much he hates Windows 10 on top of all the spying and forced updates that comes along with the $100 price tag I figure that was the easy choice
I have a ton of actual CDs over 300 of them, I would like to still use them and I also figured I could later upgrade my ram and add a graphics card down the road. Overkill PSU was because my original was DOA and I didnt want to wait for a replacement. The bigger one was only $7 more. Thanks for your input though!
Thats a nice looking case, unfortunately I filtered it out by requiring at least one 5 1/2 drive bay for my blue ray reader/writer
Thanks, I was thinking about maybe getting a GPU for it later down the road
originally I was going to get a 120GB SSD but I figured the computer I am used to is 10 years old and running windows vista so anything will be faster than what I have lol. Right now my main focus is to get my OS installed on this baby so I can actually use it, I'm going to be running Linux Ubuntu.
It was the PSU. I took it apart and tried it sitting on the MB box and nothing happened. I ran to Best Buy and picked up the cheapest semi modular PSU they had. EVGA 850 for only $7 more than my Corsair 450 CXM and it fired right up. So Im just going to keep the 850 even though its massive overkill. I guess Ill never have to worry about not having enough power lol.
thanks for the advice I think taking most of it apart is my next step and Ill try testing it outside the case
whats the difference between the green or the grey label?
sorry I did mean battlefield. so If I do plan on going the gaming route down the road it would be more efficient to upgrade to an I5 at that time
wow very useful information! so if I was thinking about running COD, BF and possibly a Tomb Raider type game at 1080 at 60+FPS do you think I might run into some problems?
I have heard that the I3 bottlenecks with the 1060 so I figured since the new pentium was essentially a cheaper I3 I should stay around the 1050 TI range. The 470 is the equivalent to the 1050 TI right?
any bottle necking issues with the Pentium and 470/480?
Ah I didnt notice that I thought it was a M-ATX case. thank you I just cancelled and reordered.
I have heard that a i-3 6100 would bottleneck with a 1060 so im going to guess a 1070 with an older sandy bridge chip wouldnt be a good match
pull tab king would this work for his uses?
ok good deal, thanks!
Thank you I appreciate your kind words!
Thanks, I will admit the C7 choice was made because I like the coolers that lay flat and I figured it would atleast be better than the stock cooler, do you have any experience with that hard drive?
Thats a nice case, not too expensive, it has a window and some led fans. good choice!
I like that case, i guess i like to have a disc drive though lol
thats a personal preference choice, I like the look of Corsair cases myself. are you looking for one with a window? Corsair 350 D is a good looking case or the 230 is another one too.
you could go this route... https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GcqdgL
warranty and faster read and write times
the only thing I did was switch out your ssd to get more space and speed for the same $$ and switched the hard drive to the black series which has a good 5 year warranty.
awesome build! +1 for the Breaking Bad reference!
