In theory you are correct. However at the time I put together this build, I was not able to find a blower style card that had decent running temperatures and acceptable noise. (F.e the founders edition is an absolute joke, no idea why people buy those). Maybe that changed in the meantime.

I tried both ways, and the configuration where they work against each other yields to much better results.

Hi,

Thanks! However there is a small error: The board has 4 dimm slots, not 1.

Yes, i could. What happens if the product gets added as a part? I doubt it will correctly match in that case.

Hi,

yes the intel stock cooler is not up to it's job. I use a NH-9Li (with a NF-A9 replacing the bundled NF-A9x14) in an exhaust configuration and am very happy with the result. I'm using a 35W TDP CPU though.

at my goto retailer here in Switzerland, it costs exactly the same as the i7-6700. ~330 USD.

Well it's gonna be tight, but certainly doable quite a few completed builds here on pcpartpicker have such a configuration.

Why wouldn't it? If you just need bulk storage (and a lot of it) or archive storage, I'd say hard disk drives are still the way to go. But for normal data you work with daily SSDs are highly recommended. If do not just buy the cheapest one you find, they should at least be on par with HDDs regarding reliability. If it fails (as every storage drive will eventually) you can restore from a backup that you do on a regular basis.

They are not cheap, yes. Both with the overall cost of the build, it does not make a huge difference.

Great, I just bought a EVGA card and will complete my build over the weekend. I'll publish a build guide on it to illustrate how it went.

Hi,

this is a very nice build. I have a node 202 as-well, but without a graphics card. I like to change that and inspired by your build the evga gtx 1070 is pretty high up on my list.

If you do not mind I would like to ask two questions:

  • does the card sag (as the gpu support has been removed)?
  • how much space is there between the fans of the case and the fans of the card?

Cool build, I have the same case and do not have a graphics card in it yet and I struggle a bit to find "the right" one.

First I looked at blower-style cards but they basically all suck in terms of noise and heat. So I guess the STRIX would be great if it performs as well as you describe here.

Quick question though: The place where you mounted the second fan comes with a GPU support "stand" which needs to be removed to add the second fan. Do you experience any noticeable sagging of the card?
