    from completed build Aiofe V.2.

The XFX R9 290 DD Black edition has a long name, not the reason for the missing star though. The card, like all Hawaii chips, runs like it lives on a volcano. Some manufactures have curbed this but XFX certainly didn't, really it's not the GPU itself but the fan profile XFX decided to go with and the VRM temperature. The fans are quite; problematically to reach that level they sacrificed the card to heat output. Plus the fans above 50% get as loud as a little jet engine which is fine with headphones on but can get annoying without the ear defenders. On the VRM temperature side VRM 1 runs at 110°C whilst VRM 2 gets a lighter load at 80°C. Performance wise however I couldn't ask for much better from it overclocked to its max I get 1125MHz on the core clock and 1500MHz on the memory clock; however I usually run it with a more modest 1060MHz core and 1400MHz memory. Stock is 980MHz core, 1250MHz memory. All in all it usually keeps up 72 fps when V-Sync is on.

from completed build Boomer's 1st PC Build

Got this card for $240. All other r9 290s were over $300. Looks Great, Runs Great so far. I get 60+ FPS every game that I played (h1z1, ESO, Skyrim, CS:GO)... Temps Run around 65-80 Degrees. Depending on the length of the gaming session. Solid GPU. Def good for the price. Now I want a Titan :)
