Pro: Looks nice, has lights and easy to use/navigate BIOS.

Cons: USB Type-C connector (non-carbon edition has normal USB port), one straight and one angled SATA cable (would have preferred two angled) and can't completely turn off the rear IO panel lighting.

If you can get it cheap this is a lovely board. Works really well with my red and blakc theme. You need to get the Gaming APP to control the RGB LEDs amd only the top half is RGB.

Couldn't have asked for anything better, this motherboard is exactly what i was looking for and MSI delivered. easy installation, and set up, and the bios is super easy to use, as well as the programs that came with it, make overclocking a simple click of the mouse!

the only thing i wish they would have done differently is the RGB's on the motherboard, they need some work, not as bright as i anticipated and are just lacking.

Lights are nice and its sturdy and has more than enough features. MSI applications are useful too.

Nice motherboard. Friendly bios. RGB lighting keep things interesting. Layout makes it friendly for service.

Great motherboard. Good amount of parts, black PCB, and great specs. Unless you are familiar with advanced BIOS/UEFI, plan on red LEDs in your build.

Fair warning, it only comes with 2 sata data 6gb/ sec cords. SLIing two 1080s might be a tight fit.

It got all the features i need and more. It supports Sli, it supports Raid, and it's all black!! incl. heat spreaders Rgb's on this board are discreet not to flashy. All connectors are in the right place, enough fan headers. and I love sata ports and usb 3.0 being at an angle made cable management look so cleaner. Highly recommend!!

It was an all black mobo with the CPU socket I needed. That was my only criteria for mobos. Other than that the bios is fairly easy to navigate, although I wasn't all that impressed by the RGB LEDs on it. It mattered little with the HUE+ though.

Looks great. I didn't want to overkill it with just red everywhere for my build, the nice neutral grey/silver tones look amazing with quality black PCB. Has PCI-E slot armor. I like that it has the SATA cables pointing to the side, not up, from the motherboard - it makes sense. Was very impressed with the BIOS/UEFI and the fan control - it really is the stand-out feature for me - would have liked to see better integration when paired with an MSI GPU (adjust the case fan speed depending on GPU temp.) - also the desktop app counter-part SUCKS, a lot (stuck at 50% min fan speed that you can't change without editing the saved profile file). Still plenty of connections/ports, it does what a motherboard is meant to and does it well.

Wanting a solid, affordable Z170 MB I opted for this MSI variant. After reading good reviews on their quality. It was easy to work with and I love all the usb ports it has. Things are nicely labeled on the board to, like which slots to use for Dual ram.

I'd say the rgb lighting is a bit weak. As the I\O side strip is stuck on static red. And the Front ram side isn't as bright as I expected. But I wanted red so leaving it stock colors works for me. It still good looking and a functionally nice enough board that I'd recommend it! Looks to have good O'C capability once I head down that road.
