A quick look at the GamingNexus youtube review shows it 10% slower in games than the $200 3600, 10% faster in parallel CPU content. If you want "more AMD" from your Ryzen, this is the chip. If you want something balanced more like an Intel, go with the 3600/3600X.
I'm on the fence about the 1600. Cheap ($80). Very cheap. But it gives up a lot of power (and I don't expect the "next leapfrog" to go much faster).
The sale was very short.
I think it was a mistake on their part.
I would almost jump on that...except my closest microcenter is 4 hrs away...and the closest with the 2700x in stock is 6 hrs away.
Good catch. I managed to get a Ryzen 7 2700x and Aorus X470 Gaming 7 Wi-Fi for $400. I hope others were able to take advantage.
