Windows key not active

Just bought a pc from a guy and after setting it up I noticed it said That my windows key is not active. I contacted the guy and he said windows 10 was active when he bought it off Best Buy. What could be the issue?

Is the PC actually from bestbuy? If not chances are he brought a scam/grey market key and it got deactivated or is lying to you.

I payed $50 for a windows key on kingwin and turns out it wasn't activated and i got scammed so i wouldn't recommend buying 3rd party windows keys.
