FIRST BUILD RTX 2080 ti and i7 8700

2Build

Hello all - this has been a looong time coming but I have finally saved up enough money and I think I did enough research to know what kind of build I want for my first. Never the less, it's always good to get advice before pulling the trigger so here goes:

A few notes and questions:

RTX 2080 TI because there are a few games that I would love to have the pleasure of playing in 4K 60fps.

The i7-8700 is from a DELL I purchased last year specifically for gaming which I didn't do much of. I would like to purchase the air cooler because I'm using my 4K TV for a monitor which can only go to 60hz. From here there are 2 questions:

  1. Should I purchase an unlocked CPU even though I'm using my TV that can only go to 60hz and what would be the benefit? If so, what is a good CPU liquid cooler to go with it.

  2. If I the 8700 is just fine, would I NEED a liquid cooler or would the air cooler on the list suffice.

No RGB lights because the the PC will be out of sight.

Lastly, I wanted a motherboard with Wi-Fi that would last a while and it seems like this was as good as it could get but I might have missed some others that would compare. Please feel free to advise if anyone has any other suggestions.

THANKS!

Just tweaks and changes that I would make.

The motherboard seems way over the top given you aren't overclocking. THe 8700 is fine, under good cooling it will boost over 4.0GHz consistently. No problems there.

Storage, CPU Cooler and PSU are just what I would use.

Thanks for the reply!

So you think that with the i7 8700 (non-k) and the 2080 ti, I will able to play most games (at least those that have already been benchmarked to do so on a unlocked cpu) at 4k Ultra capped at 60fps? Is there any risks of bottlenecking?

Bottlenecking is purely subjective (depends on game and other things), so it won't happen all of the time

4K is GPU bound, not CPU bound, so you'll be fine with the i7
