This includes peripherals, but I’m flexible with the budget. Title says it all, would be used for work (lots of excel, probably a lot of tabs open at once, etc.)

Case aesthetics matter exactly zero because it will be tucked under my desk, so I don’t care about a tempered glass side panel. However, I would like a case with good airflow. I also need an ultra wide monitor and 32gb ram.

Here's a slightly different take with all SSD, 2600X processor for lots of multi-tasking power, a little extra into the case for quiet.

The above recommendations are great for basic or low-profile multi-tab excel requirements. I'm just wandering whether "lots of excel" translates to huge data sets consisting of render-like number crunching or higher-end compute analysis (20mb+ files or the higher core count vigorous 50mb/100mb~+ records). If that's the case the $2000 budget needs to be put to better use.

Depending on user-workloads, excel is no slouch potato and will rip the living day-lights out of any higher-end consumer level CPU offering, even be it the fastest core cycling 9900K. Same applies to RAM utilisation. So a little clarification at this point would be helpful as "lots of excel" may invite undesired vulnerable recommendations.

Here's what I got. $2k seems a lot for a simple work PC, but if you intend on gaming at all I'd say replace the 2400g with a 2600x and throw in a 2060 or 2070. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
