What size case do you have? I take it you don't have DDR4 ram?

Keep the case and storage. Everything else should go. The PSU is super low end (it is not suitable for modern builds due to it being unreliable along having very poor performance) along with the CPU and you can get a much better GPU with your budget.

  • CPU: Great mid end cpu 6 cores and 12 threads, comes with a cpu cooler, comparable to the 8700k when not gaming.
  • GPU: Able to handle 1080p ultra games, comparable to the GTX 1060 6gb when it is a lot less
  • RAM: 16gb kit at a speed of 3000, it is dual channel, since it is a 2 stick kit you have room if you want to upgrade the kit to 32gb in the future, 16gb is pretty much becoming standard so there ya go
  • MOBO: Easy to use Bios, oc support, crossfire support so if you so choose in the future you are able to buy another 580 and have them both running or switch to a completely different GPU, usb 3.0 headers, B450 so you should be able to plug and play with the cpu and not need to do an update.
  • STORAGE: 1tb HDD at 7200 RPM so its fast and be able to store games on it, 120gb SSD for boot drive and keep some games that you plat a lot on.

Is there anything I could do to cut the price down a bit to get something closer to a 1070 that has freesync? I have a little wiggle room and might be able to hit $700. [EDIT] or vsync and fastsync

Wiggle a bit more.

Flaming.GoolzZz 1 point 1 month ago

How much wiggle room because there really isn't anything I can do to "cut the price down" and the 1070 is like $100+ so like it really depends how much "wiggle room" you have. Here is the difference with a 1070. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
