$2K USD 1440p 144Hz PC

Building a PC for my friend who's father just passed away.

Cool story about that - they are massive Minnesota Vikings fans and his father actually passed away at one of their games, but the players all signed a book for his family with their condolences. Bunch of good guys in that organization. Because of this I'd really like to have some subtle configurable RGB and a white/purple/gold design so that the PC resembles the Vikings colors.

Don't worry about an SSD, I've got a spare that I'm going to give him. I also have a bunch of 140mm RGB case fans left over from an old build that I will be giving him as well. Ideally Intel, but I don't think an unlocked CPU is necessary. If it fits in the budget then go for it, but otherwise don't worry about it.

  • Budget: 2,000 USD
  • Location: Texas
  • Use (gaming, rendering, etc): Gaming
  • Peripherals required (monitor, keyboard/mouse, etc):he will need a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
  • Operating System required: N/A

My choices

  1. the case, Not many cases out there have purple on them, but I know NZXT does. This one is white with purple accents in the interior and some of the exterior. You will have to puy it directly from NZXT though.
  2. motherboard, went for this one because it has gold accents and its a high quality motherboard too.
  3. chose a white RTX 2070
  4. I did not list it, but you can add in custom sleved cables from CableMod to add that extra touch.
  5. I went with a 280 rad so you could use your 140mm RGB fans on it if you choose.
  6. case supports 2xs 140's in front, 2x 140's on otp, and 1x 140 in back

Hope this helps point you in a possible direction.

Yeah man, thanks I appreciate it. I've been looking at that case and I think that's the one I'll go with. I also hadn't really considered going with a 9600K but it's $100 cheaper than an 8700K and performs about the same except for the multithreading.

Thanks this build looks really good! I think I would change the RAM to G. Skill so that it's Asus AURA compatible, but besides that this is more or less what I'll probably go with

Why did you choose such an expensive keyboard? Is it actually worth spending that much money on or is it just because it looks cool?
