I was looking at doing a BIOS update on my motherboard just for Broadwell-E support. I was wondering what happens if I... mess up in any way. Is there any way to restore or recover in case of this? My knowledge on Motherboards isn't the best so I'm really not sure.

Depends on model. RTFM.

Get your BIOS/UEFI from Here: https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/support/X99S-SLI-PLUS.html#down-bios

And they have a instruction video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRyFMf0D9Lc

Losing power during a Flash can cause major problems. So if at all possible put the machine on an UPS to do the flash.

Motherboard link? I want to check if it's notorious for corrupting.

You can clear CMOS to reset the BIOS cant you?

Also, you cant really mess up a BIOS update unless you use software from inside your OS.

If the update procedure gets interrupted it usually prevents any recovery. The reset won't do anything unless there is a backup chip.

Well I guess I could. I never really used the CMOS reset so I forgot about it doing that.
