NVIDIA most likely wont ever support freesync. There isn't a AMD 480x only RX 480 with 4GB/8GB VRAM. Yes there is better GPUs, The R9 Fury, R9 Nano and the R9 Fury X (in that order of there Performance.)

This. Way too invested in Gsync which is basically a dead horse now since Freesnyc is a lot cheaper and depending on the monitor is just as good.

Also there is the Pro Duo.

Would you say the r9 fury is the equivalent of GTX 1070?

AMD currently doesn't have anything that's equivalent to the 1070. The Fury X will be the closest. The R9 Fury X is about 10% slower at 1080p, and is within a few % slower than the 1070 at 1440p and 4k (2160p).

Its weaker but its closer to it than the GTX 1060.
