Yahoo! Breach - 500 Million users

Bakklash

Today Yahoo! said that their system was breached and the hackers made off with the info of around 500million users..... HEADSMACK! .. Are you kidding? If the net worth of your company has six zeroes and you store user data shouldn't your servers be like STUPID secure? Like "One attempt to hack in lands you in prison by lunchtime" secure? 500 million users? This isn't even the first time a company let someone make off with my info! At this rate everybody's dog knows who I am! This tick anybody else off? Let's rant!

The breech is for accounts from 2014. How many people still use Yahoo and haven't changed their password in the past 2 years?

Only those lax about security, but it still shouldn't have happened.

What people aren't saying here is that it was 500 accounts in 2014. Why are we just now hearing about this?

Because passwords are often stolen by hackers but it is only later discovered when there are reports of accounts being broken into.

that means NOTHING. both are fully capable of the same practices. Yahoo is run by an idiot... thats a bigger problem than company age.
