This is a build I wanted to do since the Ryzen cpus came out. Finally, after grabbing the parts from various Ebay sales in June I put this beast together with the help of my fiancé (first time for her) in early July.

I raided my old office computer (an Intel Skylake i5 I put together in 2015) for many of the parts.

You might notice some pictures with the Corsair cooler in different configurations in the photos. I had to RMA my H110i GTX as it had a blockage, Corsair sent me a H115i as a replacement. I also added a 92mm fan at the back when I was going through all the troubleshooting with the dodgy cooler. I kind liked it there so I kept it. Crazy to have 9 fans inside this thing, but there ya go!

The only thing I wish I had was better RAM, as the G.Skill RipJaws is not on the compatibility list. XMP profile doesn't work in dual channel at the rated 3200 Mhz, but I was able to tweak the timings and get it running at 3000 Mhz, so pretty happy. If it wasn't so expensive I'd happily dropped in some nice Ryzen compatible stuff.

Oh yeah, my kids love a bit of Teen Titans Go, so I had to drop in Cyborg to keep an eye on temps. He is half man half machine after all!

Wow, stuff seems expensive Down Under! (You don't corner Cyborg, Cyborg corners you. ;) ) Interesting that the G.Skill isn't on the compatibility list, as I'm running 8GB of Ripjaws 4 in my 2600 build and it's been running fine on the XMP profile. Not directly comparable, I know, but the whole point of waiting for the updated Ryzen chips (for me, anyway) was to get access to more RAM sets. Still, nice build!

Thank you and yes.. you are absolutely right, everything is damn exxy here. The RAM is a strange issue, definitely a bit of a learning curve working on how to tweak it to run on Ryzen. If DDR4 prices were more sensible I honestly wouldn't have bothered with it, but in the end it was worth the effort and I learnt something new!

What fans are those?

stankb0t submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

They go by a number of different names: This one is Coolman (or Coolmoon) Sunshine 366. Can get them on Ebay for pretty cheap. You'll also find them branded as UpHere, Asiahorse and AIGO Z series.

The reasons I wanted these fans was because the rgb effect is showcased even when the fan is set to intake (like it is here). So 3x side intake and 3x bottom intake. Comes with a fan controller hub and a IR remote control. Can only control them with the remote and not configurable via the mobo, so forget any Aura sync etc capabilities. Still, they look awesome and perform exceptionally well.

Nice system good to see u did choose the great Zen over the intel junk, also Vega 64 Nitro is damn nice... Dont like the case tho im more of old fashion guy and like the cases back in 2013 and before all this glass stuff...

stankb0t submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

I hear you. My old i5 Ivy Bridge build was tucked away inside a Fractal Design Define Mini. Seriously loved that case. I thought it was time to try something new. No doubt my next build will be something different again. And yes, I'm also glad I went with AMD as well. Very happy with the performance and I absolutely won't buy a GPU that doesn't support open standards (ie G-Sync vs Freesync).

Even better to see u understand how bad both intel and nvidia are, many people still dont have a clue, and that just shows why NOvideo are where they are, and why now GTX 2080TI cost 1200$+, compared to about 60-70% cheaper GTX 680 back in the days screw nvidia they are so greedy, intel is the same i see ppl to buy the disaster "new" 9xxx series 9700, 9900K, while they are 40% more expensive then AMD offerings that is insane....

Well the Fractal cases are nice i like very much my Define XL R2, is not without some problems, but was the only full tower case that was cheap, steel, included x3 fans, and very solid. Dont like the new style of the cases with this glass, but i see many ppl like them, strange to see how industry changes, who knows what it will be in next 5-10 years.... RGB also was not common at all before 5 years...

Nice build, but isn't that a bit to shiny? For showing off it's fine, but I think I would be annoyed after a while.

stankb0t submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

It's not that bright that it lights up the room or anything. The pics are a little deceiving. The only thing that bugged me for a bit was the reflection of the monitor in the front case glass. I brought the monitor forward a few inches to fix that.

Mango2go 3 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

Ok, but to be fair, the monitor reflection issue is something I had as well (I got the Aerocool Quartz), I think that's what you get for choosing glass. Nevertheless the nice looks are worth it for me.

As long as you don't get blind by entering the room you are indeed fine. I still like my lighting a bit more discreet.

But still a very nice build!

Hey love the build, actually made an account just to say that to a fellow down underer...

Question though, does the H115i fit in the side bracket?

stankb0t submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

No, I am quite certain the side intake is only for 120mm coolers, same goes for the bottom intake.

Thanks for the kind words! Let me know if you have any other questions.
