Description

MY baby has finally become alive. I'd like to thank everyone in the community here for giving me input on my build when i nearly knew absolutely nothing about putting these things together. I've built a pc a long time ago before this, but I nerely forgot all the small intricate details. Thanks to you guys I was able to optimize my build around my budget. Hope you guys enjoy :) Also I will constantly be updating my imgur file whenever i add or change something with my entire gaming setup. Here is a link: http://imgur.com/a/HGZJ7

What a nice build it turned out to be @justprewitt

Love it

justprewitt submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

thanks :D

How is the airflow on the phanteks p400? I heard mixed reviews on the phanteks airflow

justprewitt submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Well, gotta be honest here. Aesthetically speaking, it's nice, but.... The problem is their idea / design of the front panel. It's completely blocked off, and thick, with the exception of the 1 inch gap of opening across the bottom and top of the front. These vents on top of the filters they add to them allow little to no air flow. When I play a cpu / gpu intensive game, my temps get to almost 70 C, but as soon as i take that panel off, temps drop dramatically, almost 10 to 20 degrees C. Also i take the top 2 magnetic panels off for the extra umph. However, i may be not giving the case a fair chance because I have my GPU's Radiator on the top of the front panel (exhaust) + an intake at the bottom. This might not be the smartest idea hence the 70 C. I feel that maybe if i move that radiator to the top of the case and just add another intake fan to replace it's spot, the case might be just fine with the front panel on.

That's my input lol. Best of luck

Got it! Also wouldn't a 1080 and Ryzen 5 1600 Bottleneck?

justprewitt submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

From my knowledge, I don't believe so as long as you have your CPU overclocked. but i could be wrong.

werepig3000 1 point 2 months ago

This is so weird I have the same Case, RAM and Mouse as you. Our setup is almost the exact same in terms of looks.

justprewitt submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

haha great minds think alike

Question, Is the water cooled graphics card really even necessary? i mean, i understand the silent part but it really feels like to me that there is no point to it. my 1070 Founder Edition makes little to no noise at all.

justprewitt submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

honestly, not really. But for $10 more than without it, i get decently better temps.

Bosswoman3 1 point 2 months ago

Great choice for the case. I love the blue background color glowing inside the case.

justprewitt submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

:P I can change the colors or modes to anything i want too :D

Bosswoman3 1 point 2 months ago

Are they magnetic strips?

justprewitt submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

yes

Soulrak 1 point 2 months ago

What monitor would be best for this build? What can this build handle for gaming?

justprewitt submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

I bought a dell 1440p 144hz 1ms TN G-Sync Monitor

Ruru8076 1 point 2 months ago

Are you able to change the color of the rgb memory ? Heard about some compatibility problems with ryzen... Good build btw :)

justprewitt submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Yeah, if you google the G.Skill Trident RGB Driver, it works fine

morandofreddy 1 point 24 days ago

Did the ram boot up at full speed as well? Purchasing same cpu, mobo, and ram combo thanks

kemoafrika 1 point 2 months ago

Great build, have you synced your ram with aura software by any chance? any issues?

justprewitt submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

I haven't used aura, only G.skillz software found here https://gskill.com/en/download/view/trident-z-rgb-control--beta- and this works just fine for me. I may look at aura and try it tho,

kemoafrika 1 point 2 months ago

Ok cool thanks, man. I will be building in 2 days time, i hope the updates have resolved the ram issues.

justprewitt submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Yeah, one thing about my build that i didn't think about was checking the Ram QV for the motherboard. Apparently the Trident Z 16GB isn't listed there, but it still works, (kind of). When i activate D.o.c.p. to run them at 3200 hz, my computer will randomly crash or just the game will crash. So i have to stick with 2133 for now untill i find a work around. My suggestion is pick ram on the QV list to minimize the risk of that happening.

kemoafrika 1 point 2 months ago

Too late initially bought them for intel 7500 build, but then I changed my mind and went with a ryzen build after seeing the impressive performance numbers.

justprewitt submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Just put up images of Benchmarks! Check it out

Joshaaye 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

How well does the ram perform? I'm trying to figure out if I should put the 2400, 3000 or 3200mhz tridentZ on the same board with the R5 1600.

justprewitt submitter 1 Build 1 point 24 days ago

I had to set it to 2933, keeps crashing at 3200. But it's still good! Color tool works too
