Any particular reason for the 8086k? Seems you could have brought a regular 8700k, clocked it to 5.0-5.2GHz and put the £77 change towards a more powerful GPU when one you like is released.

Not intended as a criticism, just curious on your choice, was it just nostalgia for the 8086?

Great looking build either way +1

Financially I was indifferent between the two options. I have a hard time not getting the 'nicest'options available (waiting for the newest card). It was almost just to say I have it.

The store called 'MicroCenter' in my city is selling 8700K for 300USD and 8086K for 400USD

nice looking build! i have the same case. where did you get that tempered glass front? it looks insane. +1

It's the 500D SE version of the original 500D. Comes with a fan controller and the three ll120 fans in the front. I just posted my build in this case and I really love everything they changed from the 570x case.

Yeah you also have the cleanest build of it known to man..

The tempered glass front comes standard on the RGB SE version of this case.

Why did you mount the 1060 on a bottom slot of the motherboard? To get the most out of the gpu you use the first slot usually

Irish. saw your build the other day was so impressed.

Is that true? Easy change if so.

Looks like that is incredibly factual. Will be making the adjustment tonight!

Yes sir! you should see an improvement. I am not too sure what the slots are on your motherboard but the top slot standard is 16x while the one you have it slotted into could be 8x or even 4x.

confirmed my board does go 16x then 8x then 8x.

Moved it up.

My head was completely thinking to use the middle slot bc of cable management.

Question .. Hi, there did you have any issues loading Asus Bios on the first boot. Thanks

I did!

However I had forgot to plugin the power to the CPU :-)

Hey, stupid question I know, but how the hell do you add stuff to your cart in the CableMod website? And checkout?

I see you've got yourself some of their cables so I was wondering if you could help.

Sorry for the late response.

Go to Amazon and get a cable mod pro kit.

Make sure to get the RMx / RMi kit if you have the matching PSU

Trying to get an idea of what's best for cooling mgmt in a new build (haven't built a PC in ages and have never used a liquid cooler). Is this a typical set-up? To have a 240mm radiator up top, Fan blowing out in the back, and then as many fans as you can place in front for intake?

Scroll down and there’s a gif of air flow.

You can’t go wrong either way with a H150i or H115i. This case is great for a H150i mounted in the front with a push pull layout.

I decided for a top mounted H115i since I only overclock to 4.9ghz to stay icy.

hi there, i have the same case but with the brushed aluminium in front, more classy for my taste. But my question is,have you ever tried to put the GPU in the Vertical Mount? I ordered a Pci Riser but My 1080Ti is 2,5 slot like yours..and i suspect that the side door wont close. Cheers +1

from what I understand is it can vertically mount correctly. I personally have not seen any pictures of a 2.5, however you could always try and be the first.

Hey, I'm getting very similar components to you, including the case; amazing build, by the way. Was wondering what the cable management is like for this case as I'm thinking of getting the same case (and cooler, and ram, and ssd) ;) weird how similar this is to what i was planning to get!

Thanks!!

I would say the thickness of your 24 pin is the biggest factor.

With mod mesh cables it took up a lot of the capacity in the shroud which made things a little tricky. Just have lots of zip ties to do your best to keep everything inside of the shroud.

I like the M.2 because it allows less cables.

Okay, thanks a lot for the info!

One other question; does it come with the RGB fan controller? I know it comes with the commander pro but I understand you also have to plug the fans into an RGB controller in order to actually use the RGB functionality?

Thanks

Comes with both

If I put 2 more cosair fans in the top it will be over or it will be nice

Do you think there is enough room in the case to front mount a H150i?

There is, it can be front mounted!

Your cable management is superb. The cable side of my build in this case is currently a disaster.

I have a question about the HDD cover; have you bought it or made by yourself? And eventually where or how Thanks

What gpu temps you getting? Thinking of getting hydro x for my build

  • 1 point

If I open my case door and run fans on max it does not exceed 52-53 C.

This is generally in a 25C ambient. My build was more focused on aesthetics and acoustic quietness rather than extreme cooling. In retrospect I would choose a larger case with thicker rads if I started from scratch.

  • 1 point

Ok thank you as I am going from my fluid gaming loop to a corsair hydro x loop with two xr7 360 rads as im aiming for gpu temps to be in the 40s also your temps are pretty good considering the ambient

  • 1 point

Yup, if I ever move to a different case I plan to do two XR7 radiators.
