Description

This build is more of an upgrade to my first build that I did not get around to posting. I am very proud of the way that everything turned out this time and could not resist posting this time around. The reason behind the name is because I have not gamed since the days of the PS2 and saw this computer as a new beginning into the gaming world and PC's.

From the parts selection it is pretty apparent that I wanted to go with a mostly black theme and I think that the components all complement the theme very well.

I built the computer for school and gaming. I do some CAD work with it and the I5 seems to be powerful enough for the drafting that I do. The I5/290 combo does great playing all of the games that I have, BF4 being the most played of them all. I recently upgraded to a 1440p monitor and it handles BF4 on ultra at 60+ fps.

450D for the win! Very beautiful build. Need more description, but the pics look great. What are you using for the LEDs? I didn't see a Hue in the 5.25" bay, so I thought I'd ask. Really great build.

I love this case. I will definitely work on the description. I used NZXT's sleeved LED set. I put it in an enclosure up in the front of the case under the intake fans. You can see it in one of the pics. Thanks!

ahh yes, I see it. Good placement. I see you have a straggling cable. You could probably use a tiny zip-tie and fasten the stragglers down to the area where a bottom fan can go to. But that's up to you. Still looks excellent though. XFX have pretty bauce graphics cards!

I was considering just pulling the slack away from the bottom of the case and tucking it in the corner. I actually lengthened it from stock because the original one was way too short. Their 290s are gorgeous.

It is an ACER h236hlbid. It's an amazing monitor. I recently upgraded to an Asus pb278q though.

Great, do you find a big difference jumping to 1440p?

I think so. Games look really great on my new monitor. One of the biggest improvements that I've noticed is the real estate I have now. There is tons of room for multitasking with split-screen.

Awesome build! I'm looking at getting the same case & PSU, did you have any problem with the cpu 8-pin connector reaching the motherboard when you routed it through the back of the case? Based on your picture it looks like you had plenty of slack, but some reviews I've read say that the 8-pin connector is too short even for a mid-tower and they have to route it in front. Just want to be 100% sure before I buy the parts.

Thanks! I wish I could help you out with that, but I used a braided extension on it from the beginning. In my old case the cable from my old power supply was too short so I had to use an extension and decided to use it in this build as well. From my pics I think that with the extension removed it would just barely reach. Even if it didn't and they are the parts that you really want I'd say just get the extension for a few bucks more.
