First i'd like to start with the name for my build: Waterlogged, The heart of this computer is from an ibuypower PC that my cousins girlfriend knocked a 32 OZ soda into while he was mid league of legends game. He doesn't build computers nor really know anything about the hardware he just plays games and watches streams. Instead of him buying another prebuilt he asked me to help him build him a new computer and said he would give me the broken one and whatever parts worked out of it just keep. After some testing i found out the only thing that survived was the CPU, HDD, and GPU.(gtx 650, didn't keep it) My favorite memory with this PC is honestly that it has gone from something destined for the dumpster into a capable budget gaming machine. Everything in the system that can be overclocked, is overclocked. 4.5ghz on the FX6300 24/7 stable, RAM overclocked mildly from 1333 to 1600. Gpu overclocked from 1100 Mhz Core and 1200 Mhz memory to 1300 Mhz core and 1450 Mhz memory. Almost 20% on core and 21% on memory! Overclocking this system was a blast and it's hard to beat this price to performance for $170! Every game i play it runs on medium to high settings.
CPU: AMD Fx-6300 Vishera 6 Core From drowned build Motherboard: Asus M5A97 2.0 Picked up used on ebay, hit 4.5 ghz no fuss, can't complain solid board! Memory: Local find 10Gb of Samsung DDR3 1333 out of a HP Compaq Pro (This was advertised as 8gb 4x2 but upon installing it was 3x 2gb sticks and 1x 4gb stick) Score! Graphics Card: MSI 7870 Hawk Bought from a friend, he upgraded to a 390X, This card is a beast in terms of 7870's it overclocks exceptionally well which i'm very happy with. Storage: 500GB WD Blue. From drowned computer Case: Corsair Carbide Spec 002 Advertised as a "CyberPowerPC case" I knew they most of their cases aren't made by them and its usually a decent case with their sticker on it. Turned out to be a Carbide Spec 002 with a minor scrape on the acyrlic window, not a deal breaker at all for what i paid! Cooling: Cooler Master 212 EVO. Picked up on sale for $15 Power Supply: XFX 850w Pro bronze rated non modular. Discontinued unit, bought from a friend should give plenty of headroom in the future for a better GPU.
