Description

Gaming mostly, Youtube, Watching movies.

Hello everyone! This is my PC that started out as frustration from my old PC. Which was all my fault you see, I bought a "55" UHD TV. And well this is the end result. I hooked up my sweet TV to my old PC and it went uuugh are you kidding me? Before my average frames were playable, At decent settings, Now almost my entire library of games, literally were cut more than in half. Are they playable? meh if you like slo-motion I guess, Or if you enjoy turning every setting way down to get half the frames you were used to getting. That was my frustration. So literally a week after having my TV. Parts for a new PC starting pooping onto my front porch.

And here she is......But the story doesn't end here.

Ok so I get all my parts ordered and start to put it all together. <check> Get it to post the 1st power on <check> install windows <check>

Had it up and running installing all of my steam library, Got a couple games downloaded, And was getting antsy to see what this thing will do, SO I went to load up ARMA 3 and it blue screened on me and turned off so fast I couldn't read what it said the error was.............I literally almost cried. So for the next 2 weeks me and my buddy had this thing apart, I couldn't tell you how many times. It never posted again after this the Q-codes it was giving me wasn't even in the book, Nor on most the forums I was looking on. If you ever get the 0d error on an ASUS MOBO you might want to just send it back, LOL. We came to the conclusion it was either (a)the MOBO is shorting out on the case somewhere because the core v-21 has built in standoffs. (b)the MOBO has a bent pin and the 1st time I put a heavy load on the CPU it arced and fried my CPU and MOBO if you guessed (b) ding ding ding!!! sure enough after looking for 45 mins, With a fluorescent light, And magnifying lens I found it!! So just to be on the safe side I RMA'd both of them. I will be putting it back together as soon as I get them back. But I did manage to take some pics so, I will put them on here.

Goodness, I know all too well about those build bugs. Or maybe, most of have it for those are have a build completed. And that is awesome, I'm certain your daughter will appreciate her build when that time comes. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for your next build.

I will probably post pics of my previous PC also, The poor pile of cable management in it, Is why I haven't posted it, But it's been a pretty decent build. I'm giving that one to my youngest. Ever since she has seen ARK she has been dying to play it lol. And my oldest is in between gaming and the car we just bought her, So it is going to either be a car stereo or a PC, And she wont make up her mind LOL. Thanks again!!!

Keep at it and hoping for a speedy fix. It sucks to get a bad run of components.

I'm looking forward to seeing the finished pictures and read the rest of your tale.

Build RMA's suck! This is true and we all hate it but your kidding me right? You build this and only include 2 pics WTH! +1 But I need more pics.....like a lot more. internals, externals, completed.... and everything in between.

That case alone deserves a few pics! LOL I'm bias ...I have that case!

Just the fact that it comes completely apart, And you can put the panels in any orientation is amazing. I had a blast building in this case I even modded it a bit. On the bottom I put the stock 200mm fan, But with the way the bottom panel with the holes for the fan was. I turned it around, And dremeled it out for the thumbscrews on the front, And used self tappers on the back, So the 200mm can breath. Also thanks for liking my build. Also put up a lot more pics hope you like them!!!

crap I apologize I was uploading pics on here last night at work and it froze on the second pic so I forced deleted the process. I didn't even want to post yet what do I do? I got like 20-30 nice pics of this build and I just ruined it and didn't even know it. I will post some more pics this weekend and it is up and running good so far.

Oh so rough yeah I heard the pins on the Skylakes were easily bendable and even the best of the best could be prone to bending one of those bad boys if not ridiculously careful. Nice build though looks pretty does the HUE+ have a breathing option? I have a build very similar to use but I want to use LEDS in a breathing pattern to match my Razers.

  • 1 point

yes, They are triangle shaped, with a hook on the end, And are all at like a 45 degree angle. I had to look at a weird angle to even tell it was bent. As far as the HUE+ OMG, Get it, I've spent hours doing all sorts of things with it. It has so many settings,And you can control all four channels individually, It has breathing ,solid, fade, rainbow, marquee, alternating and candlelight mode. I think that's all, But it is very impressive and easy to install. Plus on my last pic, Is the cam software that NZXT, Has you download it is really useful, For all kinds of things about your PC.

thoughts on the motherboard? Great build BTW

  • 2 points

I love it, The Bios is really easy to make changes in. It has 5 PWM fan headers. Overall i think it is a very well built MOBO, Also the audio is very loud I used to have my headset up about 1/2 volume or more now much more than a 1/4 is almost too much hahaha!!! And thank you for liking my PC.

You do know that a single 980Ti won't run recent AAA games with locked 60FPS at 4K without dialling down some graphic settings ...Not saying sub-60FPS isn't playable, just not ideal for competitive play.

  • 2 points

Yes unfortunately on the TV side the locked 60 is a bummer but 60 is tons better than 15-20 I was getting before I built this PC, 4K is no joke on hardware. I will still probably on see mid 40s on AAA titles for now with a single 980ti, As for now I don't want to tinker with it anymore since it is finally running. And as far as the TV I know a monitor would benefit from this loads more. But I'm spoiled I sit in a SUMO lounge, With my keyboard on my lap about 4 feet from my TV, And it has ruined me hahaha. Thank you for the advice sir!!!

in a sumo lounge

+1 just for that ..wish I had room for one.

  • 2 points

Thank you sir!!! The Sumo is actually something I probably would've never bought just by looking at it, But I had to live with a buddy for awhile, And my room was up in the attic with a low ceiling, And just about enough room for my bed, So on my laptop and a few beers later, A few income taxes back. I ordered one, Probably one of the greatest things I have ever purchased. I mean I'm 37 yrs old and my parents look at me, Then my sectional couch, And shake their heads but I love it!!! LOL And thank you I'm glad you like my PC!!! I get off work in a couple hrs and plan on running some games finally!!!

Also the Noctuas OMG!! if my PC was any lighter it would probably hover on bootup, My kids jumped back from it when I 1st turned it on HAHAHA. I was trying to get away with as little fans as I could, And still be cool enough. And so far with the 200mm on the bottom pushing up, The 200mm bitfenix 159cfm in the stock fan spot, And the Noctuas for exhaust, My CPU and GPU hover around 30c. Under load I have no idea yet, But will update you guys with temps.
