Description

This is actually my 2nd build and I always love small form builds. I started from Cougar QBX then followed by NZXT manta, then this one INWIN 301. This is my first mod. Im sorry if its just plain and simple I just wanted to show off the RGB light show :).

Decided to get a white theme pc, since the idea here is to show off the RGB lights.

So to start off with the case, i chose INWIN 301. I decided to go with a mATX motherboard instead of mITX since there is only one i know with white motherboard which is MSI mortar Arctic b250m. Here in my place INWIN 301 is really hard to find especially white version. I actually purchased black version of it since it was the only available then painted it to white. Then I already have the GTX 1070 asus strix since my first build from my cougar qbx I already have the G skill tridentz RGB.

Upgraded from i5 6500 to i7 7700. I chose this processor (locked version) since im not really a hardcore overclock enthusiast. This build is mainly for games, work and daily web activity.

I chose the nzxt hue+ over the corsair lighting nod because of the led strip. Nzxt hue+ does have white strip or white colored pcb in the led strip. and for the rgb fans, i picked up corsair hd120 over the AER fan of nzxt. since they have white blades. :D

lastly I chose nzxt kraken x52 for my cpu AIO. (And I managed to Mod this into Custom loop) Im not sure if Im the first one to mod this AIO, but im proud that my project is successful. (Sleepless nights and stressful modification process paid off :D)

I forgot to mention, I didn't purchase the corsair commander pro for my corsair hd120 fan for the rgb effect, I actually modded a custom controller. I saw it on youtube using a adruino chip. And actually its easy thing to do if you just know what your doing. :) instead of paying $100 for a controller you might wanna check out adruino chip its just $10 on ebay. or lesser...

Well i just wanted to share my RGB build; and here it goes :D hope you like it.

I actually joined a contest here in my place for rigshow, and this baby won 1st place for best in small form factor.. :) yay!

yes you can

it's just not figured out how just yet

  • 1 point

I mean you can light up each individual key on your flare, and different zones on your gladius ||... also if you have addressable RGB strips, you can change each individual LED's. Challenge yourself... try it heheheheheheh... or you could just cheat and turn on Colour Change in Aura Sync and have a pure evil laugh you monster.

How did you modified the kraken x52?? I've been thinking to do the same thing but I can't figure it out

  • 13 points

I did a lot of research before doing this modification. First about the corrosion, if i mix 2 metals this will lead to a problem. I was actually thinking using a different radiator. But I prefer with the default nzxt radiator Second is about the water pressure and water flow. Longer tubes and bigger diameter tubing needs more pumping power since default tube of the AIO is very tiny you need to add 1 more external pump. Third is about the coolant (I think pastel coolants or thick coolants is a no no to this modification) the nzxt pump might get clog quickly. Lastly, always plan ahead... Choose carefully what tubing and fittings youre going to use. I used 16" OD 14" ID tubes and fittings.

In the process how to fit the the fittings to barb ends of the pump and rads uhm.. its a secret :D I dont want people to blame me because of leaking and other stuffs. It might kill your system. There are a lot of tutorial in youtube for modification of AIO :D Just go and research em up. :)

Notice you put the fans behind the bracket to fit the GPU in there. Are you seeing any CPU temp issues from that?

  • 1 point

idle at 36C then full load 100% cpu usage for a 1hour (stress test) 52C its much hotter by 5-8 degrees on normal push pull settings.. or for typical more ventilation cpu case..

That is pretty intuitive that you changed the NZXT Kraken into a custom loop. It really is the best looking CPU cooler that is out there. I know that you said that you didn't need to overclock, but I think that at this price and with a custom loop, the 7700K is almost no question. But that is just my thought on that matter. I also think that a higher end motherboard would be better for the exact same reason.

On a different note, what kind of things do you run specifically? And how does it run them?

  • 1 point

Well I do gaming (Overwatch mostly). :) and about the parts, all of this were like purchased 2nd hand. some of them are on my friends parts.. bought em half a price or like 25% cheaper.. thats why I didn't purchase i7 7700k (unlocked version).

Actually right now. On this day: purchased Asus Strix Z270i. Will be moving to core p1 case :D but im still tight on budget for mods... sorry. i will post as soon as possible for the update.

Okay, I can see that. The Asus boards are good and That makes a lot more sense now that you said that you got the parts for a lowered price. The RGB looks great.

  • 1 point

Just ordinary spray paint.. just dont paint the fins.. :D

That makes so much more sense, I was looking for "radiator safe" paint, and it was like $50....Thanks.

Hold up. You're controlling your Corsair fans with an Arduino?! How are people not talking about this! That's an amazing money saver idea!

  • 1 point

Yes... for $5~$10 you can control almost all addressable LED bulbs and as long as its not 5050 LED. :) I just hope there will be a lot of forums talking about this mods. Im still new to this and im still learning to code. :(

I actually have the same build as yours save from the VC. I do have MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X whose length is 279mm. I'm wondering if X52's radiators and fans would fit on the front side without any modifications.

In any case, great build man! Dito ako actually nainspire. :D Pinoy builders rock!

How do you expect yourself to comfortably edit/play? I feel with that many colors being blasted into your eyes you'd have a hard time seeing colors correctly during computer use and for a short time after. I never understood the usability of R.G.B as it creates more problems (Cost, sight and power usage) than what it solves.

Peace

People like RGB because it makes the build look more interesting. Of course some may be more conservative in their usage of it while some may go all out like this. It really is all about aesthetics.

  • 1 point

Yeah I know... But actually the tempered glass of the inwin 301 is tinted.... The light glows on the strip actually filtered like 40-50% :D

And all of the light effects are controlled via software.. I can actually turn em off just a press of a button... :)
