Description

Freshly built Ncase M1 w/ a RTX 2080 FE!

A couple complications along the way.

Planned on putting intake fans under the GPU. The EK Vardar F4 fans literally arrived inside an envelope and were in pieces. Waiting on some Noctua Chromax fans instead now.

The wrong NCase M1 was sent to me (ordered the version with the glass panel, got the one without). Waiting on a panel to arrive now as well.

Overall the build process was easier than I expected and I'm pleased with the result! Not looking forward to mounting the additional fans under the GPU when they arrive.

EDIT: New fans arrived! CPU and GPU run 5 degrees cooler with the Noctua Chromax fans under the GPU. Also swapped out the cooler for the U9S. Massively better performance than the D9L. CPU sits around 30 degrees idle instead of 45 with the D9L. Would definitely recommend it.

What's that clock on the case? I kinda like it.

A inexpensive Aliexpress one. Solid controls and quality however I noticed it runs a little fast. Every 3 days or so it gets ahead by a minute. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/FiBiSonic-Upgrade-LED-Alarm-Clocks-Despertador-Temperature-Sounds-Control-LED-Display-Desktop-Digital-Table-Clocks/1656240773.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.18904c4d4rMZCz

Very good lucking build. EK fans are hit or miss tbh. I like my F3's but I had another set that both got noisy and quit working. Good luck with the Noctuas!

This is truly one of the best PCs I have ever seen! Well done! If you play GTA V, in how many fps?

Damn, sorry to hear about the Vardars shattering.

The Fractal Design HP-12 and HP-14 are good choices as well.

What's it like in the year 2080? I'm stuck in 1080... for now.

Reviews from places like JayzTwoCents and Gamers Nexus shows the GTX 2080 on par with the GTX 1080 TI. That video card was meant to replace the 1080 ti too so that was a let down. Linus Tech Tips also could not come out with ray tracing performance because they even could not get a game with ray tracing support.

I am sure your GTX 1080 will last you a good 4-5 more years before it really needs an upgrade and by then ray tracing may be more common and hopefully mainstream. It is no where near mainstream now with shadow of the tomb raider not having ray tracing until they release the patch that adds that feature (as LTT stated). Keep in mind if you don't have ray tracing game developers will still be implementing traditional lighting effects as they don't want to cut off a large part of their market on who can play the game.

Oh no, I must upgrade to a 1080 Ti or 2080, I have a 4k TN panel and need those Ultra settings. Keeping my eye on 1080 Ti prices for now, but may consider a 2080 instead. I'm caught up with the 20-series cards on LTT, Jayz, Gamers Nexus, etc. Price to Performance 1080 Ti is the best buy, yes. But the 2080 and the possibility of more RT optimized games in the near future, regardless of the $100-200 premium, doesn't dissuade me too much, I'm not surprised in the least at the prices.

My plan has always been buy new hardware, sell old, make back 50-75%, continue down this upgrade path every couple of years without necessarily ever having to pay full price when taking into account selling off older hardware.

Amazing build!

Just got my nCase but re-used parts form my previous build.

Waiting on a cooler upgrade and fans from Noctua same model as yours. How's the cooler performance?

I honestly wish I had gone with the NH-U9S, CPU sometimes reaches the 80's while gaming.

I've ordered the NH-D9L for me but mine is an i5 65w ;) always in time for an update for yours ;)

RTX 2080 system requirements recommend a 650W or greater power supply. Have you overclocked your card? If so, any issues?

Ugh it's so hard to decide between the M1 or the Louqe Ghost case that's coming out, they're both so beautiful.

Hi! I am also interested in buying RTX 2080 FE for my NCase M1. Could you give any details about GPU temps during heavy gaming and how noisy this build is?
