I already assembled a new computer for gaming last year. However, this air-cooled computer had to be housed in a cabinet after my move where there is no optimal air circulation. That whole system was built on an ASUS z270 TUF Mark 1. At that time, an MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X was installed. Everything was perfect in this Silent Base 800 case with around 5 Noctua 120mm fans. For that matter ...
In the new apartment, the whole thing now had to be housed in a cupboard. This means less air circulation and thus higher temperatures. In this context, I decided to convert the entire computer to water cooling because the heat can be better derived from the components. Qualitatively the highest quality for me was the water cooling of ek waterblocks. Here I have configured a custom loop. Since the Silent Base 800 was too big for my cabinet, I switched to a Lian-Li PC O11 housing. Here I installed two 360mm radiators on top and on the side and a 240mm radiator on the floor. With a total of 8 fans, these radiators are then supplied with fresh air. The ASUS motherboard from the old build unfortunately had a system error and was replaced by a Maximus IX Formula with integrated water cooling. The processor remained the same i7 7700k and also with the RAM I stayed with the 32 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000. Only the grafig cards I have changed. Here, the MSI 1080 Gaming X has twice the MSI Sea Hawk 1080 X. Furthermore, I have additionally installed an 8 TB hard disk for multimedia content.
Currently I'm very happy with my configuration. I can say more about the performance data in a few weeks. Here I will first test extensively.
I am looking forward to your opinions. Also ask me if you have questions.
