I've always been intrigued by ITX and when I got the opportunity to build something I came across the InWin A1 Plus. Not the smallest case, but the inclusion of the 650w Gold power supply sold me on the idea. I ordered the case on Amazon and then took a trip to MicroCenter for the rest.
Went for an open box Asus ROG B450 I-Gaming that I practically stole for $49 dollars ($79 - $30 with a CPU purchase). Along with an open box MSI Ventus OC 2060 Super for $348! WITH mail-in rebate and two games–I couldn't pass it up. The ram was also a deal and a half at $57 dollars for 16gb of 3200 DDR4. Keeping things as cheap as I could, I stuck with the stock cooler for the CPU and borrowed hard drives from my old MacBook Pro.
Wanted to stick with keeping the system under 70degrees at load and since it was running so cool out of the box, I still had plenty of room to overclock. The CPU went up to 3.8 with tons more room for improvement, the GPU went up +900 on the memory and +~130 on the core using the built in OC in Afterburner. The ram got the biggest boost at a somehow stable 3466 and tighter timings.
Still plenty of space for improvement in the CPU cooling department and Monitor.
This is my first ever build. Coming from a long time Mac user.
