Description

  • This is my second PC build, hence the Mark II.
  • Very happy with the aesthetics of the build. Love the black and white colour scheme.
  • My 8700K ran stable at 5.0GHz @ 1.35v, although temps are a bit high, peaked at 85°C during AIDA64 CPU stress test and 95°C during FPU stress test at 4.7GHz (300MHz offset during AVX load). I might delid the CPU in the future.
  • I plasti-dipped my GPU shroud and sound card EMI shield. Took a few tries to get the smooth texture I wanted.
  • Cable management took absolutely forever.
  • Overall, extremely satisfied with how my build turned out.
  • ENJOY THE PHOTOS!! :)
  • All photos captured with my Nikon D5600 with 50mm f/1.8 prime lens & 40mm f/2.8 macro lens.

Edit (01/08/2018): I upgraded my monitor from the ASUS PG279Q to the Acer X34P. Finally ascended to ULTRAWIDE MASTER RACE!

So clean and elegant +1

Gray85 2 points 15 months ago

Nice build!!

Velocitron2000 2 points 15 months ago

This is gorgeous.

EDIT: those CPU temperatures seem pretty high, is it delidded?

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 2 points 15 months ago

It's not delidded. It only reaches that hot during CPU/FPU stress test, which no game will ever be able to stress the CPU that much. It stays around 60-70C during gaming.

Velocitron2000 1 point 15 months ago

Yea, stress tests generate an insane amount of heat. But for games, considering your overclock and that it's not delidded, those temperatures are actually very respectful.

Blazer6905 1 point 14 months ago

Did you paint the gpu?

HIL542561 1 point 7 days ago

its plasti dipped yea

Fraglepuss 2 Builds 1 point 15 months ago

agreed, i do really like the build but i wouldnt run my cpu that hot

activatinginfinity 2 points 15 months ago

Nice Sennheisers. Build is cool too ;)

Honestly though I dig the look of the black & white color scheme. I'm working on a new build and have been struggling to find a nice white case... this case is PERFECT. Swore I'd never go back to a mid-tower since cable management in my current case is a nightmare, but I'm in love with this one.

Good work!

CreepyPro 2 points 15 months ago

Really nice job on painting the GPU, I'm planning on doing a pretty similar build but with Ryzen and an air cooler. How hard was it to disassemble the GPU and paint it, also what did you use to do so?

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 2 points 15 months ago

Disassembling the shroud of this particular GPU is actually really easy. Just watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5pcONPiU_M

Ametista 2 Builds 2 points 15 months ago

This build is absolutely gorgeous! Good job! ♥

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

thankyou :D

esenfur 2 points 14 months ago

Basically my build, but I've swooned to yours with the aesthetically pleasing tones. I changed my fans and got the cable mods on order too. Is the RGB strip 1 or 2? Gonna try replicate this build.. my only addition is an M2 aswell.

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

I have both the 60cm and 30cm Addressable RGB LED Strips chained together. A single 60cm should be sufficient though.

BabyGotBlack 2 points 13 months ago

no other word to descride this but beautiful

Merlac 3 Builds 2 points 12 months ago

I can honestly say nice build, because it seems I accidentally built surprisingly similiar :D https://pcpartpicker.com/b/kYRJ7P

The name, the case, CPU, cooler, sleeving kit, sound card, headphones, even Antlion... great minds think alike :)

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

omg, our builds look very similar, nice one man :D

buttsu556 1 Build 2 points 12 months ago

omg its beautiful. i wanted to do something very similar with a future build. hows the sound card? was it worth it? i have a pair of soundblasterx tournament editions and wanted to push the sound quality a bit further.

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

thank you :D both my HD 558s and Z906 speakers sound great on my sound blaster Z. The software - Pro Studio is great. The strongest feature of this card is probably the virtual surround processing for headphones, it's unlike any other I've heard of. Sound stage is wide open and sounds very natural. You get an all-encompassing feeling when you watch movies/in a battlefield. Having an open-back headphones would definitely enhance this effect, hence the HD 558s sound so great.

The EQ goes up to 24dB unlike most on-board audio solutions which only go up to 12dB. The EQ is also much better than most on-board I've heard of, even better than ASUS's SupremeFX (which is just a rebranded Realtek) on my Z370-E. When you boost the bass, it's very tight and deep, not muddy like those ****** Realtek ones. Same for treble, it's very crisp and sharp.

kenlao 1 point 15 months ago

got any picture/video on how you painted your gpu?

Watch this! might help with what your looking for

alelef15 1 point 15 months ago

Did painting your 1080 void the warranty? and what is that desk called? I'm looking for something sturdy and not overly expensive.

Also how do you like Asus Aura Sync? I was wondering how well the software works with RGB LED strips and RGB fans.

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

I only took the shroud off when painting my GPU, not the heat sink, so I don't think that would void the warranty, although I'm not 100% sure about that. The desk I'm currently using is the IKEA MALM. ASUS Aura Sync works pretty well. My mobo, ram, GPU and LED strip are all controlled via Aura Sync except my corsair fans cuz they won't work with it.

LittleMike 1 point 14 months ago

I really love the look of this. My main rig is dying and I'm thinking about spending money I don't have on a new build. Haha.

My question though, I love the look of the S340 case, and I see your have your rad on the front. I'm assuming the fans are set to intake, but doesn't the front cover block all air? My current rig has a HAF 932 Advanced and the front has a giant filter, so it's "exposed" so to speak. No issues with pulling in air, so I'm just wondering how it works with your case. Thanks!

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 2 points 14 months ago

There is a gap at the top and bottom of the front panel which allows air through, like this: http://xsreviews.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/IMG_9040.jpg

LittleMike 1 point 14 months ago

Just saw this. For some reason I'm not getting email notifications. Anyway, thank you! That's exactly the answer I was looking for.

zholland 1 point 14 months ago

Very nice! Im about to do a similar build this holidays.

How are your tubes white on the Kraken x62? You made a custom sleeve?

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 2 points 14 months ago

I bought the white sleeving from Cablemod. They're pretty sick! Check them out! https://cablemod.com/product/cablemod-aio-sleeving-kit-series-2-for-evga-clc-nzxt-kraken-white/

zholland 1 point 14 months ago

Thanks for that !! Just bought all my components today :o

dkurylo 1 point 14 months ago

Being new to building with RGB, are the RBG accessories such as light strips and RAM able to display white light well?

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Everything else can produce very bright and accurate white light, apart from the GPU which can only produce violet light (the closest to white).

dkurylo 1 point 14 months ago

Additionally, is it possible to turn RGB or solid LED lighting off?

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Yes, you can turn them off by selecting black as the colour via the software (Asus Aura / NZXT CAM). However, you can't turn the LEDs of the corsair fans off with the included lighting control hub. You need the Corsair Commander Pro to do that (control via Corsair Link software).

I currently have the LEDs of the fans turned off by unplugging the sata power cable to the lighting hub, as I don't have the Commander Pro to control them via software. The fans will continue to spin, as they are powered via another 4-pin PWM connector.

Careramel 1 point 13 months ago

Have you had any problems with your AIO? I been considering getting an X62 instead of a Noctua DH-15 but I've been hearing a lot of horror stories with pump failures on the x62 and whatnot.

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 1 point 12 months ago

My X62 works flawlessly, though it's only 3 months old.

JustNull 1 point 12 months ago

You had me at the painted GPU... +1

hcodu 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

How wide is that desk?

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

It's 140 W x 60 D x 75 H cm.

Succubusty 1 point 11 months ago

I noticed that in some of your pictures, your rig has black front and top panels on the outside, but then in others, it has white front & top panels, but the interior stays white. How did you get a set of black panels? Or did you paint your outer panels at some point? I'm wanting to do something similar with the same case, but with the black interior, with white outer panels, but I'm not sure how to get the white panels & how easy it is to replace them... or if painting is the only option.

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

I'm not sure what you mean. I did not paint the case. Only the rear and bottom sides of the case (both interior and exterior) and the edges of the tempered glass side panel are black, the rest of the case is white (both in and out). Try searching up some images/reviews of the NZXT S340 Elite White case.

Succubusty 1 point 11 months ago

You know what, nevermind! I just realized that it's the lighting that makes the outside of the case look black in pictures 2 & 3. Just my eyes playing tricks on me :P

NPC31 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

I want to build a similar pc so i have some questions. 1.Did you put the rgb fans in your case's slots or replace the fans in your cpu coolers radiator? 2. Also can you control the krakens lighting without a hue+ controller?

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

I populated every fan slot of my case with Corsair's HD fans, including the front radiator. And yes, you can control the pump's lighting without a HUE+ controller. You just need NZXT's CAM software.

SamuelLarios 1 point 10 months ago

Did you have to use a Corsair node or was it all in the Corsair software

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

The Corsair HD fans come with a HD lighting hub that can be used to control the fans' lighting mode/speed/colour with limited options, but you can't turn the LEDs off, hence I bought the Corsair Commander Pro soon after that allows me to control the fans via Corsair Utility Engine software. You have more lighting options with the software, as well as having the ability to turn the LEDs off.

SamuelLarios 1 point 9 months ago

Thanks for the reply and I'll definitely make sure i buy the Cosair Commander Pro when I make my build. Thanks again

scrubyshawn 1 point 9 months ago

How did you plasti-dip you GPU?

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago
Brucemallory1 1 point 6 months ago

How's the monitor run with a 1080 I have the same GPU and am wanting to buy that monitor as well just want some input form actual owners, would you recommend getting the X34 with that 1080 GPU?

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Yes, absolutely. You might not be able to max out modern triple A titles at 3440x1440, but turning few graphics options down will yield fps well in the 60-100 FPS.

Fofo20 1 point 3 months ago

Nice looking unit. Where did you find the white hoses for your cooler?

tiger1998tiger submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

CableMod AIO Sleeving Kit for NZXT Kraken (White) from PC Case Gear.
