Description

My ever on going build that a few months ago received two new 970's. I'm waiting on Zen to come out before upgrading my CPU to either AMD or Intel as prices should make it easy to pick which side. Sorry for quality of pics, my room has no natural lighting besides my fan and my phone's camera is just that, a camera on a phone. I make some dank memes here too.

Part Reviews

CPU

Pretty good for what it is and when it came out, no real complaints as it runs heavily modded Skyrim to Rainbow Six: Siege well over 60fps and only at 50% load most of the time. Very Overclocking friendly even on the 970 chipset I had, but has increased stability on the 990fxa chipset with only one OC failure at 5.0Ghz backed off to 4.6 for heat and stability.

CPU Cooler

This is by far the best purchase I've made as coolers go. Quiet, cool, and compact making excellent room in my 540 case over the Corsair A70. Would recommend buying High-Performance 120 over stock fans if quiet is your thing however.

Motherboard

Has a few issues with USB 3.0 and sometime just altogether refuses to work on some devices. Windows 10 made the issue seems to disappear after upgrading from 8.1, possibly OS related? Loses a few good points with me for having that issues persist for months and no bios updates to fix it. Friend also with this board has the same issues but on Win 7.

Memory

Does it's job, nothing special.

Storage

Coming from a HDD for years and getting this was like going from night to day. Well worth the money spent from the sheer speed I have. Even made the 3TB HDD seem faster for a Steam library.

Storage

Big and with 150MB transfer speeds. Works wonders as a Steam library and video recording save location.

Video Card

A HUGE upgrade from my old dying 7970. Went crossfire on them but one card gave up the ghost so I upgraded to these for 250 each from B-Stock. Drivers haven't crashed, overclocked easily, have yet to see either card above 70C in SLI. SLI however is touchy at times and only Rainbow Six: Siege has really given me fits, but that was primarily oobisoft breaking sli. Easily handles R6 staying only around 60% max load with the game at max settings. Have yet to have any issues regarding the 3.5 vram deal. All in all, well worth the money if you can find it under 250 on B-Stock or some other site, if not go 390(x) for 8GB of sweet vram.

Case

Coming from some cheap pre-built case I got from ebay, it's monstrous in size and easily makes multi-card setups a breeze, cable management? What cables? Cables are not an issue at all. A bit big and square but does its job very well. Makes for great throwing item should the need arise.

Power Supply

Would rather have a full or semi-modular PSU, but the 540 make the cables vanish so no complaints.

Case Fan

Use these to replace the H100i fans. Makes the noise go away and stay cool.

Monitor

Colors are sharp and crisp, good 1080p monitor from 2013.

Keyboard

Has a tramp-stamp. Is forgiven for being red and clickity-clackity.

Mouse

Replace the battery with a cheap ebay rechargeable with a bigger capacity, do that and the mouse will last for DAYS. Other than that, a very excellent mouse besides the kinda heavy charging cable.

Headphones

You like cheap headphones that sound good? Buy these on sale for like $50 and throw a Mod Mic 4.0 on it. Now you're good to go fam.

Nobody is complaining about CPU bottlenecks? What nonsense is this?

I'm sure there's to some degree a bottleneck but so far I really haven't seen one so far, least to any noticeable degree in any of the games I play.

I said the previous because normally when people see any amount of AMD in people's builds their immediate reaction is "AMD??!! BOTTLENECKS!!! BOTTLENECKS!!! HOLY S#IT EVERYBODY I WANT YOU TO KNOW THERE'S A BOTTLENECK HERE!!!" It's pathetic.

Obviously it must be special enough to deserve it's own AIO cooler!

Nice build. How stable is it at 4.5 and what voltage are you running. Just curious. I'm also waiting on zen before make a switch.

The 8350 is just an overclocked 8320.

Other than the clock speed, they are exactly the same.

I got it basicly free as a gift at the time years ago plus it OC'ed well enough to keep it.
