Description

This is my new computer build. I use this for playing games and normal web surfing. I went with be quiet! Base 800 for my case because it seemed to have very good air flow for a sound optimized case and looked very nice. My last build was in a Fractal Design R4 and I wanted something different this time. For the boot drive I am using the Samsung 950 Pro and now have almost instant load times on Witcher 3. The decision to use the i7 was because with V.R. coming and 4K content becoming more prevalent I wanted solid cpu that can be used for the next couple graphic card generations to come. The ASRock Extreme 7 is a great board and after watching the review on Tek Syndicate I saw it on sale and snatched up for $180.00 after MIRB. I replaced the stock H100i GTX fans with Noctua fans. Then I took a fine tip black sharpie and colored all the misc. usb, front header wires and fan extensions they come sleeved but the last little bit is a rainbow of colors. I used a carbon fiber vinyl wrap to cover the side of the 5 1/4'' bays. The troubles I had were the 140mm bottom intake fan didn't fit and I had to cut a section of the fan shroud away to make it fit a 120mm would be fine. There are very few tie down points behind the motherboard tray so cable management can be tough. I ended using self adhesive clips to help. The last problem I am having is not being able to install linux I intended to run linux on the 840 EVO but i cant get an iso to boot up. I tried usb and a disc also tried different distros . I did flash the A bios with a beta bios to be able to boot from the 950 PRO so I tried the B bios and still no luck. So I am stuck with Virtual Box until I figure something out. Overall I am very happy

Sweet build +1 BTW how's the motherboard? I'm looking to get the same one. Does it have a good fan tuning software?

How come you went with SLI 970s vs 980 ti? Did you already have a 970?

Are the case fans as silent as Bequiet says?

They are pretty quiet but are 3 pin I am thinking about upgrading to black Noctua's or the be quiet silent wings

If you do so, can you tell me if it's worth it? I'm looking for the same case. Thanks!

Oh, and nice carbon wrapping. It looks very good!

I replaced the stock Pure Wings 2 fans with 2 140mm and 2 120 mm Silent Wings 2 fans they are still 3 pin but at 7v they are just about silent a great deal better than the stock fans. I would say just as quiet as my Noctuas but far less ugly. Now the loudest part of my system is the 2 120 mm Noctua fans running at 1000 rpm on my H100 gtx
