Description

So for the past few years i've been using a ****** old amd apu powered 1.7 ghz laptop that ran tf2 on low settings at 15 fps.

After 2 years, i decided that i'd had enough of this **** and started to save for this monster (in my opinion) I wanted something that could run bf4 because my friend has been playing it since it came out and wanted me to play with him.

I spent almost 4 months researching for info about pc's and how to build them as i was a nuub. i have learnt a lot and i am now a bit geeky when it comes to specs and fps and that stuff.

CPU: Since i was on a budget i decided for an AMD FX 6300. Whilst i longed for an i5, where i stay they are double the price of the 6300 so it was a good choice.

GPU: When i was looking around for gpus i was thinking about a 750ti but decided that it might not be up for the games i wanted to run (which it probably would have been) so i went for a slightly more expensive AMD r9 270x. I just think it's better so yeah that's all xD.

Other Parts: Well the rest was kinda standard, 8gb of ram, a good mobo, 1 TB hdd and a smallish case. Well it worked out well :D

BUT

The case...

OH BOY

It's just too small for atx, There is hardly any room above the mobo so getting those screws in was impossible. With the cables, i could hardly fit any of them through the back so they all sit near the back in the bottom of the case where they probably won't get in the way. Otherwise the case is ok, it looks nice but just be weary of the time you might need.

Well that's my pc, i'm having fun with bf4 on high settings at 60 fps and tf2 on highest settings at 300 fps. Hope you enjoyed,

BYE!

~Update~

I decided to buy some upgrades to cooling for my pc such as the hyper tx3 and af120 fans. I'll maybe add some more pics with the new cpu cooler, but i'll need to sort out the lighting in my room a bit XD.

Btw never use the stock amd coolers, they shook the side panels off my case once when i hadn't screwed them on they also vibrate and make a hell of a noise. just saying haha.

Be seein' ya!

Looks really great inside. Love to color coordination. Every so often a r9 280 will go on sale for less than $180 which is what I would've gone for over the 270x. Congrats though. Check out MSI afterburner or Asus GPU tweak.

i was looking at a 280 but then i'd have to probably upgrade my psu and i was really tight on money also, the 270x has a higher clock rate especially the asus version so that was the reason why i got the 270x.

This is what a budget build should look like... fantastic job. No need for an i5 with only a 270x. I would've either gone with the 4gb edition of the 270x or as stated elsewhere in the comments, waited for the 280x. Or even the GTX 960, although I'm not very happy with my former GPU provider(Nvidia) any more. You've left yourself with a good starting point that is easily upgradable in the future. One of the best builds I've seen on this site simply due to the budget at hand and the outcome of the research.

i agree

Are you a professional photographer?

TilarP 2 Builds 2 points 30 months ago

I'd like to think they'd have some pictures that aren't crooked if that were the case. :P Great build, still.

_Alex_ submitter 1 Build 2 points 30 months ago

No, i just borrowed my dad's camera. But i didn't know that they were in 4k until i uploaded them to my pc.

Can I just point out that the unlisted Corsair AF120/140 in the back of the case cost half as much as the case hahaaa. Really, though, it's a nice looking budget build.

RxdenKyle 2 points 30 months ago

why is that mobo white and gold?

Zeoheart 1 point 29 months ago

I love seeing this reference everywhere :)

Me wishes I could run TF2 on ultra high with 3000 fps on moi laptop I also wouldn't reccommend getting Windows 8.1 OEM since (as far as I know) you can only install it on one computer. The RAM looks interesting

brent_the_rogue 2 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Yup I have the same case (different color). Very hard to get cables routed in that bad boy.

Zeoheart 1 point 30 months ago

Nice color theme! +1

ITneto 1 point 30 months ago

I don't know but I really enjoyed reading that description. Great camera work and awesome pc

+1 Good decision on the video card. The 750ti is a nice low power card for quick upgrading without needing to upgrade power supplies. But if you are doing a custom build and have the power there are much better options in that price point. Lots of amd builds today. Solid budget build.

Wonderful build friend. I think your 1st upgrade should be a new cpu cooler because the fx stock coolers are so loud! I love your color coordination and the under $700 price.

_Alex_ submitter 1 Build 1 point 30 months ago

Yeah, when i have the pc on full load the cpu cooler's at 6000rpm but i wear headphones so it doesn't bother me much.

Cibex 1 point 30 months ago

Ok so being a fellow build noob gone wild geek I must say the parts choice is pretty awesome!+1 Also I'd +1 just cause it's an AMD build. Despite what most people think I have found through research that the right AMD build will kick an i5 build in the teeth and keep it moving. My only suggestion would be to drop the stock cpu cooler for a Corsair H100i or H105 and OC that baby!

Great budgeting!! Really digging the 6300/R9-270X combo! +1 for smart part choices and great pics!

For a first build, this is really well done.

walkingtower 1 point 30 months ago

looks good. Definitely going to use some of these parts. interior looks amazing

Corbindalllas 1 point 30 months ago

+1 for the processor and temp on CPU while under load

Adzy 1 point 26 months ago

hey man, got the same case and im looking for a cpu fan. on th mobo would you be able to get all 4 sticks of ram on with that cooler?

_Alex_ submitter 1 Build 1 point 26 months ago

yes but with very little clearence xD i have low profile ram as well so if you had 4 sticks of low profile then you'd be fine.

Adzy 1 point 25 months ago

cheers mate, i have one now, had to let go of a stick of ram though :'( way nicer than the stock!

syntaxerrur 22 Builds 1 point 23 months ago

Hey can you tell me if the hyper 212 evo fits in this case?

FantasticFranco 2 Builds 1 point 23 months ago

It does NOT. 212 EVO is 159cm and this case only supports up to 158cm. You can look at my build and see how the panel sticks outwards by around 0.5cm

syntaxerrur 22 Builds 1 point 23 months ago

Thank you for the heads up!

_Alex_ submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

na he's right it won't fit

FantasticFranco 2 Builds 1 point 23 months ago

I have to know, how did you manage to install the Hyper T3 horizontally like that? I couldn't do that and had to mount the Hyper T4 vertically on that same mobo and case. I had to switch it out for a 212 EVO and that doesn't fit in the case because it's 159cm and the case only supports 158cm.

_Alex_ submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

the tx3 on amd cpu's has a dual way latch so to mount it horizontally you just place the metal latch through the heatpipes so that the latch comes out in between the heatpipes and push it down on top of the plate that hits the cpu and it will just sit there then you can just latch it to the mobo. The tx3 is smaller than the 212 by a large margin so thats why it fits.
