Description

I planned on building my son a pc for his 10 birthday so I picked up a used case I got off a facebook gaming group and it sat for a while I slowly collected parts. The first version of this was a i7 4790K, Corsair Vengence 2400mhz, on and MSI Z97 Gaming 5 mobo with a GTX 970 and a 1080P screen. I actually ended up getting a board that wasnt SLI compatible so I had to order another and wait for the Gigabyte Board to arrive. This is what it has become now, the evolution of a 4k gaming rig. It is an absolute beast now and we couldn't be any happier with it. We (my two sons and I) play everything from Warframe, Black ops 3,Battlefield, The Division, and Rocketleague together. It handles most everything at 60 frames at 4K(even GTA V). At one point we had a 144hz monitor before trading up to 4k, which we prefer much better. I do some Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator work as well but this is primarily a gaming rig for my 10 and 5 year old and myself. Hope you like it:-)

I consider this a perfect build and sincerely hope at least your 5y old doesn't get to play GTA V, Black Ops and Battlefield.

No he doesn't play GTA or battlefield haha. He plays some splitscreen on BO3 sometimes, i'm a fairly laid back dad. But he mostly plays games suited for younger kids. Minecraft story mode is a good one for him.

I'm loving your neat setup and cable management! I'm pretty jealous of your son, 'cause that's one hell of an epic build to get for your birthday.

Cool. I lived in a place called Alberta for a few years and that was a profession there. Also oil rigging, but it's too cold there for me

I've added a new case Phanteks Tempered glass edition, silver in color, a second Samsung 950 pro that will be in raid 0, some nice new ML 120, and ML 140 White LED fans, and phanteks RGB led lighting strips. I transplanted the hardware and am just waiting on the fans, second 950 and led strips before I update the pictures. IT IS BEAUTIFUL!!

Hello, I was wondering since you built this PC a while ago how is your experience with Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop? I'm having problem with my NVIDIA GTX 970 and Adobe CC 2015.5 with slow downs and crashes. I am wondering if people with different cards have a better result. Thanks!

Please tell me this is your build and not your son's... otherwise it was quite dumb to get all this just for him. I get it, a gift and what not but dual screen gtx 1070 setup for a 10 year old?! Cmon...

It started out for him with a 970 and other parts that I named in the description but after I sold a build I was bored with and not using I dumped some money into this and made it ours:-)

Your comment seems a bit rude saying "it was quite dumb to get all this just for him" is uncalled as it isn't your money

The table holding the pc is a fairly cheap one. I am in the process of getting larger desk that will accommodate 3 large monitors and a wheel and pedal set up.
