Build

InWin A1 - ROG

by Jhoangvan

Description

Chassis: Inwin A1 MOBO: ASUS z270i CPU: i7-7700k 5.0ghz @1.29v AIO: ASUS Ryuo Memory: Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB 3200 GPU: ASUS GTX 1080TI 011G Fans: 4xCorsair LL120 RGB: 4xCorsair LED strip Back plate: V1 Tech Monitor: ASUS PG348Q..1440p, 60HZ(OC 100hz) Keyboard: Corsair K70 Silver Edition Mouse: M65 Elite

This build was a big pain due to the AIO and Corsair Node Pro (for fans and rgb strip) requiring USB 2.0 headers which this mobo do not have..

Edit:

02/22 *I have delidded my CPU and replaced the toothpaste with thermal grizzly conductonaut. Currently running smoothly at 5ghz @ 1.29v. Temperatures do not past 65c degrees while gaming vs my previous 4.8ghz 75-80c.

02/27*I have tried numerous times to get my CPU to 5.2ghz while staying under 1.4v.. but failed. However I was successful to stay stable at 5.1ghz @ 1.325v and temperature increase by 1-3c Benchmarks/tests used: AIDA64, burn test, cinebench, 3dmark, real bench.

V1Tech backplate: I didn't notice that the back plate only emitted light from half of the strip. Contacted V1tech support and issue was solved. Had to adjust corsair link to two RGB strip since the strip provided on the plate is more dense.

Part Reviews

CPU

By far the best CPU I've had in any of my builds. Runs extremely hot, but delidding and replacing the paste for liquid metal solved the issues.

CPU Cooler

Great AIO, but pricey. The addressable RGB on the AIO needs to be brighter. Other than that, it does the job.

Motherboard

Great motherboard... only issue is that it doesn't have 2.0 headers!!

Memory

Great RAM. works with aura sync and corsair link.

Video Card

I love this card. Looks sleek and is very powerful. Will remain relevant for years to come.

Case

Great chassis. Only issue is the PSU. IMO they should've included one that is modular that can also utilize the PSU cover.

Case Fan

Fan looks great. Should've waited for the LL120 White fans that has higher CFM and static pressure. Works great for chassis fans, but will be disappointed if used as radiator fans.

Monitor

Love this monitor. Went from the Acer Predator 1440p 144hz (165hz OC) to this ultrawide beast. Yes i lost a great amount of hz, but it was worth the change from TN to IPS.

Keyboard

Love this keyboard. Does the job and it looks amazing! It was near impossible to find something that fits my station until I stumbled across this keyboard. Key response is amazing.

Mouse

Great gaming mouse. Love the fact that i can customize my DPI in corsair link and sync the RGB with the rest of my setup. Only thing I didn't care for was the gloss. Wished it was matte white to make it less cheap.

Headphones

Great headset for the price. The audio quality is great and surround sound!

Other

Looks and feels great! I love the fact that I can wash and hang dry this.. only issue is that the mouse pad itself isn't white. It's more of a grey.

Thanks! V1Tech is the place to go! Can customize the plate anyway you like!

IrishWristwatch 2 Builds 1 point 23 days ago

I noticed that right away. I should've gotten the RGB one for my build. Looks great!

How do you like that mouse?

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 1 point 26 days ago

I love the mouse! Only thing I didn’t like is the gloss. Wished it was matte white.

The ROG backplate is AWESOME!

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 1 point 25 days ago

V1Tech did an amazing job! Highly recommend their services.

Kosta_Kop 1 point 25 days ago

What about building in a mini ITX tower, what was that like, hard?

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 2 points 25 days ago

It wasn’t too bad. I actually enjoyed this one over my ATX build.

Majekdor 1 point 1 month ago

For someone who also has an Inwin A1 build... this is annoyingly good. +1

Mobyduck321 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Where did you find that graphics card at that price?

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

My friend gave it to me as a present, but sold his other one for 600$ so I priced it as that.

Jbatman 1 point 29 days ago

Probably used, with the crypto crash there are a ton of 1080s and 1080ti's for 3-600 on Ebay.

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 1 point 29 days ago

Nada. He's one of those guy's who doesn't game or anything. Just bought it as a conversational piece to troll our friends.

SSmade 1 point 1 month ago

Where does GPU take air from? It literally sticks to the floor.

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 4 points 1 month ago

It’s actually about quarter inch from the base. There are two fans blowing from underneath at the GPU.

StateFan104 1 point 1 month ago

The floor of the case is mesh

Loving this! about to start my build in the A1 (Black) within the next week, just waiting on my AIO to come in the mail. How was your experience building in this case? Also, did you replace the stock RGB strip at the bottom for the Corsair one?

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 1 point 29 days ago

The build in general wasn’t bad. It was just tedious. Just have to take your time to make sure everything is right before closing it up.. I made the mistake of having the back (side) fan as Intake instead of exhaust and had to fight my way back to it. Yes, I ripped out the old strip and added the Corsair. If you have any questions while building it, feel free to ask!

Markthedeadmet 1 point 29 days ago

I already have this case, and a few other components (more on the way) and I was wondering whether or not the integrated psu is any good. It's from some random company i've never heard of. Also, I plan on using the ROG ryuo cooler as well. How did you manage the cables that come out of the pump?

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 1 point 29 days ago

I didn’t have 2.0 headers on my Mobo, so I had to use an old android charger and run it under the gpu and outside the case. Theres a small gap right above the PCI slot for the gpu that you can run headers there. AIO pump wire was ran up and behind the heat shrouds near the CPU power port. PSU hasn’t given me any issues, but I heard stories that it gets loud and sometime whines. Some people upgrade the PSU but you will lose the use of the shroud and cable management with it.

Markthedeadmet 1 point 29 days ago

Awesome, glad to hear that. I've been sitting on those questions with no real answer for weeks.

c_clems 1 point 28 days ago

Awesome, thanks for the reply! Looking forward to putting it all together! I’m looking at replacing the stock strip with an Asus one & picking up the Aura Sync Terminal

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 1 point 27 days ago

No problem! Lmk if you have any other questions. I’m here to help!

Great build I am growing fond of the toaster/breadbox format. Can you use the QI charger build into the case to charge the headset? it could be so useful for a range of wireless products. Congrats on the feature and enjoy your build.

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 2 points 26 days ago

Thank you! it’s a more manly version of my sister’s easy bake oven. My headset doesn’t have wireless charging capabilities. I’m now curious if that’s a thing for those who has headphones with wireless charging.

Howdy, Looking for a system to build and regularly check this site for ideas. To date, this is the best rig I've seen and has my full attention. Looks compact and just what the doctor ordered. I'm looking to out this is a military 25MM Ammo case. The dimension look great.

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 1 point 26 days ago

Appreciate the compliment! Been wanting to build this for quite sometime and also check this site regularly. Had a lot of influence/inspirations from other builds and builders. If you’re thinking about going this route lmk! I’ll try my best to help out.

Wolf88 4 Builds 1 point 26 days ago

Dang, you got a good CPU !

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 1 point 26 days ago

Yeah I guess i kinda hit the lottery. Was nerve wrecking when delidding though. It was my first time! Lol

Wolf88 4 Builds 1 point 25 days ago

I just recently delidded my 6700k. I was only nervous that I may have to attempt it a second time if the first application was bad, but it was pretty easy.

how fast does that cpu fan go under full load ?

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 1 point 25 days ago

I actually use ASUS Suite and only use two settings (silent and full speed). For Browsing, watching movies and working, I use silent mode and fans are running around 650RPM. While gaming I set it to full speed and my fans hit around 1650RPM.

Callum2812 1 point 25 days ago

Can you link me that back plate??

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 1 point 25 days ago

There’s no particular link for the back plate. It was a custom plate. When you contact them, you can show them the photo of my plate and they can make one!

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 1 point 25 days ago

Sorry forgot to throw in their site!

OOOOOOO. ASUS. YEA

drkhawk5 1 point 24 days ago

No NVMe drive for the OS?

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 1 point 24 days ago

Yes. I got a couple. One under the asus heat shroud and one on the back of the mobo. Didn’t include it yet. I have one for Windows and currently working on Sierra for my hackingtosh.

drkhawk5 1 point 22 days ago

Nice! Yeah, I didn't see it in the parts list, so I was curious.

Yayomock 1 point 24 days ago

Love your backplate, but you could have upped your budget a little higher to $3000 to get a better motherboard personal advice for motherboard would be the Msi Meg Z390 Godlike Desktop Motherboard - Intel Chipset - Socket H4 Lga-1151, it' absolutely insane and would up your build 1000%.

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 1 point 24 days ago

Thanks for the input, but I am an ASUS Fan boy lol.. Also was on a budget. CPU, RAM, Storage & GPU (Birthday present) were from my previous build. I picked up a brand new ASUS Strix Z270i for 100$, the chassis for 188$, AIO 145$, Fans and Strip for roughly 150, and back plate for 100$. I parted out the rest after the swap and made a profit of 400$ after the cost of the A1 build.

Emmer414 2 Builds 1 point 24 days ago

Will you be swapping those fans for the white ll120's?

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 1 point 24 days ago

I really am considering it based on the static pressure and CFM on the white LL120s.

Thank you! V1Tech was very patient with me. I kept changing designs while it was in the shop. They did an amazing job!

Yes, they did a great job.

Jhoangvan submitter 1 Build 1 point 22 days ago

Definitely will check out your build! The AIO is something I wanted. I’m a fan of ASUS’s products and figured that I can’t pass up their AIO for this build. I came in with a budget and luckily it fit my budget. My backup AIOs were a H60 from Corsair or even a DeepCool Captain. If you’re doing a similar build and upgrading the radiator fan.. make sure it has better static pressure lol..
