Description

I had a fairly high budget for this, so I wasn't min-maxing price/performance. I wanted high end, though not crazy overkill, and quality components. Build was mostly bought in June/July and completed in July 2016.

This was mostly intended to be a gaming PC, but I loaded up on RAM because I do a little bit of Photoshop and Acrobat work. Also, because I could.

I replaced all the case and cooler fans with Noctau to keep it quiet. I did the math on case fan pressure and made sure the layout had a balanced case pressure to ensure little dust collection.

I'm very happy with the Phaneks Enthoo Evolv ATX Glass case. It looks fantastic, and the build quality is good. No sharp edges during construction.

Not listed on the parts list are all the custom cables from CableMod thatreally complete the look. I also added a couple of sets of the 1m Phanteks lighting kits.

It drives many games to over 60FPS at max settings. Though the recommended GeForce Experience settings for The Witcher 3 are a bit under max, lower draw distance, lower hair works, to get reasonable frame rates.

For gaming, the CPU is mostly overkill, I've never seen it over 50%.

I may add a second GeForce 1080 to get that last bit of performance.

Wow. Nice build. And that screen....

The colors don't go though..

Yeah, trade off I made. Always been a big, uhh, fan of Noctua. But the colors don't fit super well. Considered Phanteks fans or Noctua redux fans. But these are quiet and work great.

Its not just the fans though, its everything.

What would you have done differently?

I can change all the lighting colors with software.

Odonix 1 Build 1 point 27 months ago

Well you have 4 different colors. Black, white, red, and blue. I would have just done black and red, black and white, white and blue, or white and red, not all 4. It would make it a little bit better if you changed the led's to red or white.

Nice Build. You state you can run most games max at 60 FPS, but at what resolution? I would assume the native resolution of your monitor if I am not mistaken.

calmkelp submitter 1 Build 2 points 27 months ago

Yeah, native for the monitor. 3440x1440

That's impressive, thanks!

I have the same mobo. It only supports 2133mhz but supports other versions oc. How would I be able to get higher speeds or is it a waste of money. I heard it scales it back down to 2133mhz even if you have a 3200mhz which is appropriate for this motherboard.

Gonna build a pc with the same mobo and gpu :) Take my upvote!

How'd you mount the H115i radiator in the front like that? I have this case and cooler and the holes don't line up.

I'm not sure I remember, but I know had to take the lower drive tray and stuff out.

Maybe I had to swap the direction of it?
