Description

This machine is used for playing games and render work. Like many here, I used PcPartPicker to put the pieces together and had gained much help from the community here. thank you guys! While researching on completed builds there are already a number who have created a build with the listed parts.

  • i7 6700k
  • corsair 110iv2 /115
  • samsung 850/950 pro
  • corsair 2x16 GB
  • gtx 1080
  • 850W PSU
  • win 10

But while shopping, prices fluctuated and I could get newer or improved versions for a little more hence I went with the updated list.

Update: Fans and graphic card arrived. 2 fans in front as intake and 4 as exhaust. 1 back, 2 top and 1 bottom. Initially, I wanted to make the bottom as an intake and 4 fans at the front but the fans on the gtx 1080 were facing down so I didn't want to blow the hot gtx air back on itself so I made it as an exhaust.

I was able to tidy up the cables alot more, the bottom area still could be improved upon. Any thoughts or suggestions to improve air flow and cable manage is much needed.

Part Reviews

CPU

I haven't done anything at this point to push it but great high clock speeds. It could be better if it was 6 or 8 cores. i was able to use the software to easily switch between 4 to 4.6 Ghz.

CPU Cooler

Building it was fun. The fans supplied are not as loud as the fractal fans that came with the case.

Motherboard

Easy to setup, the labels were easy to understand on the manual. Whatever parts I got I was able to connect it to a port successfully and startup right. right now the computer takes a lag when I press the on button.

Memory

no complains. Currently the computer registers 61GB of ram.

Storage

I was surprised this was a card than the usual box of a drive. Just slot it on the motherboard directly. Wish everything was like that without the need for cables. The last drive I touched was a sata 2 drive.

Case

The case is spacious. There are 3 cages, one for optical drives, one for 5 drives and the other for 3. In addition there's actually a hidden plate on the top of the optical drive cage and could be used to hold anything. I might use that instead of the 2 optical cage. I was able to remove the 2 drive cages to make more space for airflow. 2 fractal fans came installed and are noisier than the corsair cooler fans. 1 at the front and 1 at the back. I could still hear a humming sound even with the all the panels closed. Like the bottom and filters. I wish the window was bigger, right now it is a little bigger than 1/2 and less than 2/3 of the case.

Power Supply

All the cables that came with it were wire-meshed and labelled. Easy to setup

Optical Drive

no cables, instructions or programs came along.

Case Fan

quiet , not 100% silent but alot better than the stock fans with fractal and the corsair cooler.

Case Fan

quiet , not 100% silent but alot better than the stock fans with fractal and the corsair cooler.

Keyboard

keys were a tad taller than the usual office keyboards from dell or hp.

what does CC mean? I got the 1080 this weekend. It seems that there was a pretty constant flow of 1080s this weekend on most brands across the board.

Your GPU has the best core clock, So I would say it's the best.

I'm not doing enough work to warrant a push on speed so it's just running at default 4ghz but system fan is at 32 C. CPU is 28-29 and PCH is 48C. I don't know much what it means in terms of benchmark. Any thoughts?
