Description

This pc is used mostly for gaming. Eventually I will be installing Adobe CC and use it for designing as well. Everything fit into the case well, but the HDD rack in the back sits right over the backside of the CPU raising the question if the heat from the CPU is effecting the temp of the HDD or vice versa. I ended up putting one of my least used HDD there so it wont produce as much heat. Had a problem with the riser cable sent with the case. i guess this is a common problem and they have many replacement "premium" cables that will take care of the problem. Its an issue with data not being sent fast enough resulting in crashes and the graphics card not being detected. If you use the core p5 case and plan on having the GPU on a riser, make sure to buy the premium cable before setting everything up. I'm glad that I didn't do hardline because I had to change the cable out after putting everything together. I hope to upgrade the power supply, add more ram, change out some drives (maybe try out optane), add cable extenders for aesthetics, and put in hardline to really give it that final look. Also want to add some acrylic accents in behind the pump/res and SSD to give more solid attachments and (once again) give it that finished look, but I'm not quite sure how to do that yet. Overall, I'm happy with how it turned out and the performance is solid.

UPDATE

Changed out some parts and cable management. Current part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/lstromer/saved/7nYgLk

Part Reviews

CPU

solid performance. Ended up delidding to reduce heat. It would get close if not at 80c. dropped significantly with delid and conductonaut. max I've seen in 64c now.

Motherboard

This motherboard was well advertised and build beautifully, but was misrepresented as allowing all the features of the RGB Fusion app. It does not allow for wave pattern, which is disappointing, but not a big deal. The app is also very touchy and conflicts with every other rgb device plugged into the motherboard. The RGBW doesn't really work with 4-pin rgb as well. The most recent update to RGB Fusion solved many of the problems and decreased the performance impact. Before at idle my cpu would run at 15% and now is down to ~0%. Overall a great motherboard, but some of the minor details weren't fully disclosed in my opinion making it harder to decide which of the version of this motherboard to buy.

That gpu is really pricey for what you are getting with it. Also why are you using a 1080ti with a 1080p 60HZ monitor. A 1060 would still be able to output 60fps 1080p at ultra for most games

I just bought a acer predator, lol. I'm not quite finished with the build. Also only bought it for 800.
