So this whole build was centered around three things. 1) The black and white GPU themed back plate. 2) The corsair 460x. I absolutely loved this case the first time I saw it (I didn't like the fans though but that was an easy change. 3) The white Gigabyte 2070. I knew I wanted a white build and this would just put it over the top.
CPU: I decided on the 8700K over the 9700K in this build. It basically came down to price and I got a pretty good deal on the i7 during the holidays. Plus, they are fairly equal in the reviews.
CPU Cooler: I saw this one and man... It looked the best with my white and black build. I absolutely love it and it works really well.
Motherboard: This one I was torn on. I opted to with Gigabyte to keep with the theme of the graphics card. So far, I'm very happy with this board. I also opted for the WIFI too (I'm hardwired). I like the flexibility and it was extremely difficult to run ethernet to my computer so I knew that would take time.
Memory: Good reviews and I like the look of it. This ram's RGB is absolutely stunning.
Storage: I wanted a M.2 970 Evo for my OS and regularly used programs. The 1TB 860 was an impulse buy. I saw a smoking deal and went for it. The 2TB Barracuda was recycled from my old build.
Video Card: Let me start of by saying this... I upgraded my 770 and WOW! This card is an absolute beast! Plus, the white just makes it extremely ascetically pleasing. I can literally play anything I want.
Case: Just look at all that glass! It's an extremely well built case and I would definitely buy it again.
Power Supply: I've had great luck with EVGA and wanted to keep with that company and ended up getting a 750W cheaper than I could a 650W.
Case Fans: I saw a review of these online and I was hooked. These are extremely nice fans. I love their RGB, however, it didn't sync with my motherboard like I thought it would. I still need to look into that further but honestly, it's not a big deal.
Monitors: I was torn between 2K and 1080p gaming so this is what I decided. For competitive gaming I ended up with the Viewsonic. It's way easier playing on a 24 inch screen competitively. However, when I'm just relaxing and having fun gaming 2K on the 27" Dell looks stunning. It's a little pain running two different monitor sizes but I think I'm adjusting well now. For me, it works.
Keyboard, Mouse, headset, and speakers: Good reviews on them. The verdict is still out on the speakers. So far, I'm impressed but I haven't tested them very well yet.
Well, that's it! I would do this build again, however, next time I think I would build in the Meshify. I built a PC for my brother for Christmas and this case was awesome to build in. My next build might just be that case.
Lessoned learned: Honestly, this build went fairly easy. I really didn't hit a roadblock other than trying to sync the RBG ecosystem. However, I just worked around it and I'm extremely happy with it. I forgot about this but my radiator didn't exactly lineup on the top because if the ram. However, I just slid it over a centimeter and put the screws through the honeycomb on the top instead of the factory mounted slots.
