Description

Started life with an AMD FX 6350 and GTX 760 installed which later became a GTX 980ti from EVGA.

This received a tonne of flack (bottlenecks, etc....) but I had every intention of switching to intel as Matx Boards for AM3+ may as well be none existent.

So here its is as follows;

Intel Core i7 6700k @ 4.6mhz on optimal settings or @4.7mhz with extreme settings using the Asus Suite auto overclocks. Brilliant.

Corsair H100i to cool the beast idles around 19 - 21c with load around 40 - 50 whilst the Artic mx 4 is still curing. Slight clearance issue with CPU power connector as a screw from fan hits the plug clip holding it in a open position.

Asus Maximus VIII Gene, Possibly the best MATX Z170 board available, full of features I'm probably not gonna use but better to have and not need it then need it and not have it right?

Kingston Fury x 16gb as it was relatively inexpensive and still faster than my old DDR3.

EVGA GTX 980ti, Who? what? where? when? and why? not really needed here right?

EVGA 750w, its got plenty of power should I ever switch to a SLI setup with an 80Plus Gold cert.

Corsair 350d, big for a micro build but helps with the cooling as there is no blower fans on my GPU.

Future plans may include a custom water loop, as yet I've to finish the sleeving for the 24 pin and a bottom cover for the PSU and HDD caddy.

Thanks for looking.

EDIT: Monitoring Temps whilst Playing Crysis2 On Ultra at 1440p saw them hover around 30 - 36c on the Cpu and around 40 to 50c at the GPU whilst maintaining around 80+ FPS after an hour....

Nice build man! Only thing I can say is the cable management could be a little bit sleeker.

thanks dude, the cable management has been done lazily at present as it'll be all coming out again to do the 24 pin..... should see the rear :D

How are you running two 980 ti cards with just a 750w power supply. I have two 980 strix cards that I tried to run with 850w and it wasn't enough juice.

I've no idea why it added a second card here as I'm only running one :S but it estimates wattage at 712, based on tdp no doubt which I think will vary on manufacture. I may have to "borrow" a friends cards just to check....

Hi, I'm finishing a build almost exactly like this one. I was wondering how noisy is this build? Also, how did you mount the Fans?

Thx in advance!

inaudible whilst gaming, mild hum whilst idle, browsing net etc...

Fronts fans pull air in, rear and Rad exhaust air.

Hey, I'm working on a similar build (same case, mobo and h100i cooler, including the sp quiet edition fans) and I'm having clearance issues with the fans and the cpu 8 pin power connector on the motherboard. How did you get yours to fit?

I shaved off the clamps/tabs that hold it to the 8pin connector on the board, it holds well enough with out and can see it only been a problem if transported a lot.
