So I built a thing. I'm not the stereotypical gamer, never have been. I do enjoy the hell outta games though. Got my taxes back and thought to my self, "You should pay down your Jeep( Or buy a lift kit) but what can I spend my hard earned money on frivolously?" I settled on a new PC but I wasn't about to go and buy something off the shelf like a damn COMMONER!!!! I've always been more hands on than not. Several small automotive fires aside, I still like to do things myself if I can...Or don't have the money for someone else to! The plan was to use my old case, power supply, optical drive & graphics card. Didn't use the case or the power supply but GPU & optical drive made it in. I initially started with a $700 budget but after seeing what $700 gets you these days, the budget was increased. I knew I wanted to have this rig for a while so I decided on an i7-8700K. To cool it, a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition for the CPU cooler due to not wanting to overclock it...YET. Plus, it puts out 42 CFM. 42...the meaning of Life, The Universe & Everything. (If you don't get the reference, DON'T PANIC! Look it up) Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master, G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16 GB DDR4-3200 for memory. In the future I'll double that up for good measure. All things considered, I'd say things went well & came out very well considering this was my first ever build. Fired right up the very first time with no problems. In the future, I might be upgrading to an AIO but the setup is good for my needs right now.
