This is not only a rebuild but an update.
I changed a few things from my last build because of upgrades and issues.
CPU is actually at stock right now. i was having issues with an unknown freezing of my system after checking each part i can to the conclusion it was one of 2 parts. it was either my cpu or my psu. luckily i live close enough to a Microcenter where i bought there and had purchased a extended warranty on so i was able to just change the cpu out for a new one.
PSU i swapped out the other one i had because that was the other component that potentially had an issue. i had a warranty on that as well but OCZ no longer made my psu, so i was refunded the amount i paid and decided to upgrade to the RM750w.
For the cpu cooler i would recommend against it i had to purchase this cooler because my AIO swiftech had an impeller issue and needed to be RMA'ed (which i still haven't done yet, this is because i will use the rad to extend my liquid cooling later when i get to it. i would go against this cooler because the fans are not only 80mm but have a set rpm at 1800 which is the loudest part of my computer. Noctua just announced their new redux line which once available i will switch the fans to those.
MOTHERBOARD is the same as my last build but i will upgrading soon to the asus z97 deluxe. im going to upgrade not only for the sata express because im a ssd fiend but because they have one of the most complete system optimization i have ever seen. their auto overclocking software will save me alot of time when devils canyon comes out by letting me know where my cpu is at before i spend hours fine tuning the clocks. the fan software will make my system super quite wille giving me superb variety for my fan curves. their new turbo app will let me overclock my cpu on the fly depending on which program i am using this will not only let me be more aggressive when i need it but because i can tune it down for other programs it will extend the life pf my cpu
STORAGE yeah ssds i have 3 128gb ssds in a raid 0 which give me more than sufficient start up and file speeds. and even though this is unsafe i have a back up on hdds which are in a raid 1 for redundancy this means i can loose any drive in my system and be self sufficient without an external backup. this doesn't mean i don't have one i have a 2tb backup i use for all my computers but is only for the OS drives.
RAM was chosen because i wanted the best... well kinda i wanted to get 2133mhz ram at the lowest latency possible for the gaming aspect their was only 2 choices. either corsair dominator platinums or this since the dominators were 40 bucks more i figured i get these. they overclock to 2133 with xmp with no issues even with the cpu overclock at the time. memtest came back 100% so cant complain there.
GPU was choose to upgrade from the gtx760 when nvidia slashed their prices. so this was a perfect opportunity to upgrade. i choose the msi lightning because i wanted a binned gpu that also had a back plate already installed, so my choices where msi or evga considering my theme color at the time was blue i had to go msi because of the gpu reactor and phase leds they put on the board.
Case was chosen with water cooling in mind i wanted a large amount of radiator space available because i will be going sli (this is why i haven't water cooled yet. it has ssd mounts which are nice because i plan to show them off and the cable management is really good. my only complaint is that the bottom fan near the psu does not have a filter this is why i have it as an exhaust. i have my tower on a desk so im not worried about the restriction. i will be putting leds in the case once im more settle in the theme.
