Description

i use my pc for casual gaming (gtx 950 does great) i built this machine because i wanted to have a nice computer that i will be able to game on and do school work on. Before i built this i was using a 2007 macbook. Now i only really use that for tv :/.

I have not acutlly bought the H7 cpu cooler but that is a future upgrade i will be doing.

along with the cpu cooler i plan on upgrading my GPU. whether that is a second one or a new one to replace the 950.

i also wish to buy a new case because the full atx mother board is kinda squeezed into it.

oh and i plan on replacing the power supply.

UPDATE: 1/31/17

Im going to sell the z97-a and buy a smaller form factor and buy a new case with a nice window and that is smaller (since im moving into a dorm soon)*

-Still have not gotten to buying the H7 cpu cooler

*any suggestions on a case and/or motherboard? love to hear your thoughts.

-Alex

UPDATE: 3/2/17

-i have gotten an optical drive for school dvds!

-still have yet to get a new mobo (I HIGHLY REGRET GOING WITH AN 1150 SOCKET INSTEAD OF A 1151. sooooo many more options for 1151s)

-im going to remove the h7 cooler from the list :/

if anyone wants to add me on steam my ign is bralexAIR i play warface and unturned and thats about it tbh

-Alex

P.S. I ACTUALLY PAYED $950 FOR THIS PC through like combo deals and what not. (I actually have this mobo cause and ram cause i got it 30 dollars off in a deal!)

Update 6/10/18

Got a new case. Added a different gpu to the parts list for pricing to be right but the actual computer still has a 950 asus strix. Still love this computer. Getting a new job soon and plan to update the gpu or add a second 950. Please comment what you think i should do.

Turn off that fps counter and dumb down the eye candy ,and your still sitting prettier than a console! The best part is you now have steam where everyday a sale is going on, people can argue consoles all day but steam is the ace in the hole lol

well you can buy 2 xbox ones for the price of this... maybe 3! but my argument is hey if i have a console and a pc why spend 700 bucks to buy them separate when you could spend that money on a pc and kick butt.

Ya but at 50-60$ a game, adds up!

$1000 BUDGET BUILD? Its not a budget build, its expensive. But for a CPU focused build, i think its good enough.

you can have any budget! 1000 dollar budget or 50 dollar budget. all in wording. oh and thats why the ish is there. :)

Nice build! I too build my PCs (and that of my friends) so that they can upgrade if need be. If you want a new case, go for it, but as long as cable management and airflow is good, it doesn't matter if the motherboard sits snugly. One of my PCs is also ATX and a tight fit, but it works perfectly fine.

i trashed the idea of a new case i just need a new mobo. i installed my optical disk drive a week ago and i had to pull out the front "hd"* audio cable to make it fit :( so no headphones unless they are bluetooth

*it sooo cant be hd audio. its trash. my phone actually does better! :)

You could have gotten a 1050ti for that price, but the 950 is a good card and i like mine. And replace the PSU too. I have it and I'm looking to replace it as well. Nice first build though. +1

1050ti was not out back then :/. im looking into a new psu primarily because it is the loudest thing in the build.

Not bad man. You did a good job with the ugly default cabling.. all the reds, and yellows, and oranges, and whites.. lol. I feel you on that. Like what PigWithAMustache said.. you may have been able to get more current video card but.. it's all good as long as you're happy and it does what you want
