So i use this computer for primarily playing Beamng.Drive, Space Engineers and other games too (mostly racing games. I'm a bit of a car guy). So far it has served me well, taking everything i can throw at it, whether it be playing games, writing a school paper or recording guitar/bass tracks.
It stays really cool, being that i have it in my basement. I'm hoping to get a VR headset for it sometime, just because i have a decent amount of space for one, and we have one in my electronics class and it's super fun.
When i had built this computer, i had a budget of around $600 which my father helped with by buying me some of the components for Christmas or my birthday, such as the 2tb hard drive and the 1060. I obviously went over budget. The Corsair HD120 was donated to me by him because he ordered it for his Corsair 570X, and it was the wrong fan.
The Razer Diamondback was a Christmas gift from my sister, and the K70 Lux was a Christmas gift from my father. Everything else on the list was paid for by me.
base line skylake i5. Shouldn't expect too much. Performs quite well.
Cools my processor waaaayyyy better than the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
It was a referb board, came warped. It went in perfectly fine, and it's one of the Z170 boards that Der8aur made a non K sku overclocking BIOS for, so i have the i5 6400 overclocked to 4.3GHz stable.
It's pretty, and it's fast. gets the job done while looking good.
Cheap and fast. just wish the label looked a bit nicer.
Holy crap is this thing overkill. Got it for Christmas, and it exceeds my needs.
At the time i got it, it was $210, and it performs exactly the same as my dad's 970 SSC. looks cool too. Only downside is the plastic backplate, but i can live with it.
Not the easiest case to build in, but i've dealt with worse. Side panel window gets scratched too easily. The fact that you can remove the optical drive cage is a big plus.
High wattage, great deal for the money, and it's from a decent manufacturer. I got it after a Raidmax PSU killed my nice AM2+ AMD motherboard 3 years ago.
It's cheap, but it looks really nice. Super thin bezels, and the stand is quite nice. Just wish it was height adjustable.
